If you need to clear out those red rilis I would be happy to give them a good home :)

Its been a couple of weeks since the last update.

I have finally gotten my water parameters where i want them since coming back from my holidays.

My fire/suraka reds have settled in. Its taken 6 weeks but they are looking great if i do say do myself.

The oebt are doing great. A lot of shrimplets are becoming juvies. Feeding time is going to produce some epic shrimp balls in a month or so ehen they become adults.

Never thought that I would say this but it seems the tank is getting full. I will have to let some of these babies go.

Anyways i hope you enjoy the pics.

Thanks Buck,

I have totally forgotten. They grow painfully slow haha. Hopefully I can get it to flower one day.

Thanks Shrimpaholich,

It is frustrating as anything haha. Nowadays I just buy the best shrimp I can find instead of starting with culls. I have had the rili for almost two years and they aren't even close to breeding true let alone being a consistent high grade. I get the occasional decent shrimp but too many culls.

I started with around 30 or 40 culls. I let them breed up to around 300 shrimp then I picked the best 6 females and best 4 males. Since then I have been culling shrimplets as they mature into juvies when they don't have the proper rili pattern. I do get the occasional stunner but very few and far between.

There has been progress but it has been a lot of effort especial if you miss a rubbish male and he starts breeding. haha

So the moral of the story if you want good looking shrimp start with the best.

The BB's are with Chocolate/Black cherries in the middle section. If you wanna see the tiger tank video that is in my other journal. :)

What thank dividers do you use?

Hello @i_katrafilov The dividers I use to divide the tanks are Acrylic sheets with the middle cut out and replaced with fine SS mesh.

The dividers in each section is made from glass.

Took a new video of the tank. I hope you guys enjoy.

Nice setup do they shrimps have any difficulties moving across the division. Have you noticed any difference using the oxydator ?

Hello @fernselvis

The shrimp have not managed to move between division at all. I do keep my water levels about 3 cm from the top of the divider.

Yes I love Oxydators I see a lot of difference in shrimp activity when the oxydators are empty compared to when they are full.

Hi thank you for your reply. I was referring to one of the earlier pictures with a 4'' glass division not the one with mesh. I thought I saw an image. Will try the oxydator need to ship it not locally available

Ok thnx. I just divided my tank using glass and silicon but I think I got it a bit higher thank I wanted. 4 inches from the bottom. Was planning to add a in gravel filter followed by 2 '' of sl Aqua soil may now have to fill up 3.5'' or Leave it like your tank. Other side a partially bare bottom a bit for soil just to cover the glass.

Hi Disciple

Will upload some once I start setting then up. Just finished gluing the glass, cleaning the silicon at the moment.

I wanted to go down the Taiwanese way but didn't find enough information on setting to setup (if you have some info let me know). No I'm just splitting it coz it will be easier to maintain.

One interesting thing he mentioned was "Bacteria pressure", which I guess just means number of bacteria around.  Yet I see all these other videos from shrimpkeepers bragging about how much bacteria their filtering system holds. Also interesting is no mention of using anti-biotics to treat bacterial infection.  I think that has fallen out of favor recently.

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.
