Quick update, But not a good one. After 6 weeks of waiting, i messaged my cabinet maker and told him in many colourful words how useless he is. Where did that get me you may ask. . . . I ended up with my cabinet :) on the front lawn half done :/

Soooo upside = free cabinet Downside = i do not have a diy bone in my body to finish it

Going to have a look at it tonight and see what needs to be done and go from there. Not having the best luck at all

I didnt have a good look at it as i am currently on week 2 of not smoking so i pretty much bought it in and walked away, trying not to think about it. I am pretty sure it only needs the soft closing magnetic latch thingy, the half shelf for the canister to sit on, and a few little finishing things. Will confirm tonight when i get home tonight. So frustrating.

When i got home last night i decided i would just leave it to a pro, so called an old school mate who is a cabinet maker and he is going to come around after work and do the few finishing touches. Hope it all goes smoothly, and i can post some pics of the cabinet, and maybe a tank full of water tonight FINALLY :)

Still needs something on the ground but not sure what yet. Don't want to take too much attention away from the feature

thanks

throw in some benibachi balls or a benibachi zero and it should tie the front all together. it defiantly wont take away from that awesome feature. Both tanks are stunning. wish i had both

Thanks for all your lovely comments. The tube is something i bought off Kitz that you drop food into and it lands in the food bowl opposed to using tweezers or sticking my arms in. I saw it and was like OMG who thinks of this stuff, i must have one. I havent programmed either of the lights, i just plugged them into timers. The instructions are useless. The shrimp light isnt really too bright and the reef one is perfect, so i will probs just leave it for now.

As for the front, i was thinking of getting three of those ceramic tubes, covering them with fissidens and placing them all messy on top of eachother in the front??? But still torn at the moment :/

i think stray away from adding any more 'green' as it will just distract from the centrepiece.

Looks amazing Pep, I agree with Robert, you don't want a green overload, the feature is the driftwood & too much at the front will take the focus away from it. I love the marine tank too, what are you going to put in it? :encouragement:

The reef tank is mainly for corals, but i am going to get a couple of different types of shrimp, a yellow coral goby, a mandarin fish and really really want a pair of picasso percula clownfish. They are by far the most beautiful of all fish i have ever seen.

Can anyone suggest where/how to put some fissiden in the tank. It is my favourite moss and i dont believe in having a shrimp tank without any moss at all. I was thinking maybe superglue some on the bits of wood that are uncovered??

That sounds awesome dude, I like the phycadelic version of the dragonets, Picasso's are amazing too. My favourite marine shrimp are pacific cleaners, they are really cool but unless you have unhealthy fish they don't do too well as they eat the bad stuff that grow on fish, although I have seen them thrive in pristine tanks. Check out the dwarf pygmy angels as well, they are cute little versions of the larger angels. :encouragement:

Fissidens is a great choice, it grows pretty slow & stays clumped together. Supaglue is a great way to do it, just gotta watch any excess as it will turn white in the tank. :encouragement:
