  2. It normal for.the heat to go back to the tank, the copper block is suppose to absorb the heat and take it hot water to the radiator with the fan to cool the heat, since the tube came off, the heat goes back to the block which is suppose to carry the cool water to the tank.

    Automatic/adjustable aquarium heater

Usually temperatures in cellars are pretty constant (if it is underground)? I can confirm that even branded heaters can cook the shrimp (learnt that the hard way), it happened to me so a controller is a good idea. If you are that bothered about the temperature being the same and the cellar does fluctuate a lot you may also need a cooler, depending on where you are based? Simon

    Shrimplets dying

Not sure what I am looking at there, the dark background of the table doesn't help. Maybe place it on a white background. Is this what you pulled from the shrimp? Can we have a close up of the shrimp itself?

    Shrimp tank cycling

Are you using a plant substrate like ADA Amazonia? If you are not, than ammonia won't get high enough to stall a cycle. Just don't use too much Prime. Only enough to treat the amount of tap water being added. That should minimise any impact that it might have to bind ammonia.

    micro crabs / amarinus lacustris

It wasn't intentional, I was just putting the new shrimps into the tank, the dead shrimp just fell into the tank. I just purchased another 10 crabs today to make it a total of 22, but the shop put a few more in the bag for me, I will be keeping about 10 crabs, the others are for two of my friends, there tanks isn't setup yet, as these crabs are hard to obtain in Hong Kong, the last time I saw them available was over 5 years ago.

    CRS Tank Log

Thanks so much for all the info guys. I’m very appreciative! I’ll update once I get the RO going. Fingers crossed I don’t kill them all 😅 I’m really hoping this will encourage more breeding. In saying that, I have 3 berried as of the last week, which is pretty exciting.

    Welcome Spongy

I Hope you get lots of cherry shrimplets soon, there shouldn't be any problem breeding those, the only slight risk is that you may have stressed the mother by moving her while berried so there is a slight chance (small chance but just letting you know in case it happens, not to panic) that this batch won't come to anything. If she still has the eggs after a few days you should be fine! Cherry shrimp are really easy so all you will need to do is sit back and watch the little shrimplets grow! Simon

    Help sexing my shrimp

You can do large water changes, I do it every 6 months to reset the minerals in the water, but you cannot just dump the new water back into the tank. It needs to be fed in slowly. I drip in the new water after adjusting it to match previous parameters.

    Trouble breeding CRS

Looking good and as grubs says it should be ready really soon. It is a bit bigger than I was thinking but would do the job but maybe if this is for the specific purpose I would drop the water line to two thirds full before putting the berried femailes in. I was watching a lot of Marks youtube videos yesterday trying to get some clues and almost all his tanks are nowhere near filled to the top! Hope this works out. Simon

    Ebay Chillers?

It will probably cheaper to DIY, those only look good because it has a case/enclose, and the peltier they give you is probably the bare minimum, usual the 12703-12706. I have two, and it works well with a 16L tank, but the cooler must connect to a 12V water pump, if you connect to a canister output it's too weak. I'm test a few, and the best is DIY, with 2-3 C1208, 12709 or LBS12706A peltier, and you need a industrial power supply, they computer type power supply will burn out after a few months, peltier only works well, if it the heat side can cool down faster. My setup is 2, will test with 3 C1208 peltier soon, a copper water block and a blue water block, the silver water block are crap, a PC radiator with a 120mm fan, better if you can 240mm radiator (2 120mm fan), copper water block to connect the radiator to the heat side, blue water block to the cool side ( copper cannot be used for shrimps).

    Sudden Death

Yes you can use that. It's a bit more expensive as someone else has mixed it and packaged it for you. But you can't deny the convenience. Since you are doing this in a separate bucket (an old 1 litre ice cream bucket comes in handy), you can dose 1ml of potassium to 1 Litre of water. You don't have to throw away the water in the bucket. Just keep it for the next days treatment. If you want to throw it out, you can use it to water your plants in the garden. Fruit trees love potassium.
  24. dip them in malachite green.

    Disaster has struck

It is definitely on the list with the cooling fans but I will wait until I am certain this tank is going to work first, no point buying it if I am giving up on the taiwan bee shrimp, and that all depends on how this goes longer term. I have had a few heaters break in the past but they just stopped working and to be honest (and I am not proud to say I was this stupid) it never occurred to me that it could stick on? Until the point I get one of these you can rest assured I am keeping a very close eye on the temperature daily and the new heater has a flashing light showing the water temperature and the heater is set at 22 so there is a long way to where it would happen again and as summer here is over and it is now under 20 degrees outside in theory the temperature shouldn't go over the 22! I did see 1 dead new blue bolt/steel yesterday but have seen 7 today alive, woohoo! Simon
