Small Aquarium Plants

Featured Replies

I'm after a list of small aquarium plants, besides the ones I know of such as HC, Glosso, Dwarf Hairgrass, whatelse is there? Are there small Crypts? Other carpeting plants?

GC maybe you should just concentrate on your HC carpet and make sure that goes well. Don't worry about other plants for now, you don't want to use additional money after your recent series of set backs.

Actually... I wasn't planning on new plants or a new tank, I was simply asking what other kinds of small aquarium plants are out there besides the ones listed above Disciple...

Crypt. Parva, Anubias Nana sp Petite & Mini, Lileopsis 'micro sword' are the first that come to mind, but it depends on what you classify as 'small' and what you want them for,

Yeah I guess nothing larger then 10cm roughly, plus stuff that can be planted, so Anubias is out, oh also Mosses as well, like the look of what you mentioned also., cheers @JacksonL

Just remember some plants will grow tall in emersed form and short when planting in submersed and vice versa.

What are you planning to do?

Staurogyne repens is another foreground plant I like using.

Here's a list of stem plants that will stay short in submersed form ( med/high lighting)

Alternanthera mini

Staurogyne repens

Staurogyne porto velho

Staurogyne purple

Hemianthus calltrichoides

Micranthemum Monte Carlo

Eleocharis acicularis mini aka Eleocharis Belem

Lilaeopsis spp

Helanthium tennellum micro

Glossostigma elatioides

Glossostigma diandrum

Hydrocotyle mini

Rotala sp Goias

In high light you can also grow Rotala hra, Rotala sp Green ( they will creep if you trim every now and then)

Crypts

Parva

Lucens ( high light)

willissii ( high light)

brown or red ( high light)

Am sure there are A LOT more!!!

Not planning on doing anything at the moment, just something to perhaps think of down the track once I have the current tank up and running and at a stage I'm happy with, then look at something like a low growth scape with just native shrimp.

Thanks Liver.
