Thank you all :D It has been super hectic lately so have not updated the thread for a bit!

The painting is done. There is wet seal along the floor. I've decided against tiling the room, since tiles can get slippery when wet. Will figure out something else down the track.

The laundry tub and the additional tap for the water reservoirs is installed

Most of the electrical work is also completed.

Power points are in

Also the exhaust fan and the ceiling lights are in place

The electrician also put in the timer I requested.

I haven't had a chance to see the electrician yet. Any electricians here? What sort of timer are these?

That's about it so far.

We are still about 4 weeks away from completion.

Starting to take shape nicely, looks great! :encouragement: I know how you must feel, I can wait to get my rack finished either :victorious:

Thanks for the update. Looking great, can just see the potential oozing out on those pics.....very exciting !

How did I miss this thread!

That is really nice! An inspiration.

Very jealous indeed. You will be so happy in a dedicated and well planned room.

Well come on you two, you don't need sleep, get those rooms finished?

Got the keys last Friday :smiley_simmons: Very happy with the whole house and the fishroom.

Unfortunately, we have a ton of stuff to do before we get married and go overseas for our honeymoon so moving the fishroom is going to be towards the end of July :sorrow:

I figured out how to use the timer :P It is great.

I am going to need to buy some more tanks when I come back! :stupid:

That's awesome news dude, definitely need more tanks, MORE TANKS!! MORE TANKS!! :smiley_simmons:

We are back now and itching to settle into the new fishroom! But alas I have to wait a little bit more! :p

Just started getting sliding glass doors fitted behind the roller door in the garage. As the fishroom is a room behind the garage having the sliding doors going to help a lot in climate control of the garage and the fishroom.

We are getting a bulk head built on the roller and the glass panels are going to be 2 inches from the roller door.

Also decided the get skirting tiles put around the fishroom and finish the floor with epoxy floor covering. I have a couple of friends who got their garages done with the epoxy floor covering it is non slip and looks good.

Anybody used epoxy floor covering for their fishroom? Or know of someone who has? Any negatives you can think of?

There is a problem with epoxies (assuming you mean the paint on type) in that if you chip it (or the concrete underneath) it wont be water proof anymore. So dont drop anything heavy and place your racks carefully. possibly place your racks on some sort of layer to spread the load (e.g. Timber blocks).

That said we use epoxies at work with saltwater and have no complaints.

Works a treat Serkan, but keep a bit on hand for chips like Ben said, other that that it dose the job very well. I have used it in the past and a number of people I know have to.

I trust you used Blue for the colour

Cheers guys!

Bob haven't decided on the colour yet. Was thinking a dark colour probably not black but maybe brown. Idea is to not show dirt and grime.

And as I was doing research it happens I know someone who do these floors in Canberra http://www.floorshowpros.com.au/index.php small town :victorious:

So envious, sigh....which I could have a dedicated shrimp room ! Love more pics, always exciting to see step by step progress.

Sooooo impressed Sooooo Jealous ! Good work mate!

If you can get a clearer photo of the timers but they just look like 24 hour timers to me.

Holy Cow you are getting a bit flash there LOL all those colours but you are right a dark colour won't need as much cleaning and cleaning is a must.

I did a system in a mate fish room and finished this week, all I can say is it needs a dam good clean and a clean fish room is a joy to be in = the time needed to keep everything healthy and breeding.

Sorry guys! I am going for the slowest fishroom build ever record!!!

A little bit of progress. I am hoping (fingers crossed) the epoxy floor is going to be applied today and the last coat tomorrow.

Had a bit of a discussion with missus and she prefers to have skirting tiles done! Not going to disagree with her ever! I had 60 tanks when I met her and now I have over 100. Listening to her suggestions pays dividends :smiley_simmons:

So that's going to add another week or two most probably.

Anyway, I am getting impatient so started the process to get ready to move the fishroom. First on the agenda was to find a better alternative to the MDF shelves that my stands use. Looking at what JohnH did gave me a few ideas.

I found this

and got it cut to size to use instead of the MDF shelves.

I also bought more racks to go in the fishroom and set them up temporarily to paint/reseal the cut ends of the plywood.

I now have enough uprights to have 10 racks in my fish/shrimproom.

Over the weekend I also moved a few tanks over.

There are 50cm tanks in those 2foot tanks. 8 tanks moved, tons more to go :p

I'll put a photo update on tomorrow to show how the epoxy flooring is going.

I am so over being patient that I started to twitch!!! :stupid: There have been so many shrimp sales of late I had to not jump on because the room is not ready! Keep telling myself "patience young (cough cough) grasshopper" :smiley_simmons:

Can't wait to go home and see the first couple of coats.

I hear that buddy, having the same scenarios happening here! :victorious:
