Whoa dude' date=' that PBL is massive, what are you feeding her, whole cows? Lol :encouragement:[/quote']Bro squiggle... You just let everyone know my secret!!!!! Hahaha.. Kidding... This fat mama has been maintaining her beauty even at this size.. Now is approximately at 2.8cm - 3cm.. Haha.. Just normal feeding regime of shrimp food actually... No cow involvement.. :pDon't feel that way bro BlueBolts..Take some time to slowly refine your CBS.. They will look better after awhile..You have some fantastic shrimps too... :)

These few days has been having quite a heat wave in Singapore...

It has been a 'hot' weekend for me and my family...

Even my shrimp is checking out the readings on the thermometer... LOL

LOL....thanks' date=' BUT my CBS's aren't very good ...... I lost my entire colony 2 years ago (CO2 poisoning), which set my selective program back to the dark ages..:-(

you got plenty of BB to trade :P

you got plenty of BB to trade :P

BB wants PBL and as far as I know there is none in this country. Alvin resides in Singapore! So even if he does have BB to trade there is no one to trade with!

(means more electricity bills coming.. OMG!)Bro BB, guess you need to start selectively breeding again.. It will take a long time without some strong genes... Really hope that I could give you a couple of pieces to kick start...Haha... dont make it sound so bad bro CNgo... you guys have very beautiful native shrimps which I cant get in Singapore too... I do envy Australia's way of wildlife conservation (to a certain extend).. Singapore has...... not much wildlife (or no wildlife)... haha....

hi Shrimpy, no... not using UGF in my tanks... worried that the UGF might choke easily after some time... so decided not to use that... :)

Alvin, thanks for again sharing pics ... :-) Do you divide your KK & Panda's to separate tanks ?

hey alvin. you dont have much plants..how do your shrimp survive..?

i thought they needed biofilm from plants to eat ..?

products like biozyme i am sure would combat that issue with the micro organisms they supply :)

Fair call squiggle.. but how did it get like that..

i neva have my glass like that.. maybe my ottos eat it..?!

I was also looking at the substrate and it looks kind of furry.. is anything added..?

Also alvin you said you where gonna clean it a bit..wouldnt you be cleaning the shrimps main food. ?

Wow Alvin' date=' those Pandas look amazing & the CBS are awesome, such well fed shrimp, I always drool over your pics :encouragement:[/quote']Thanks bro squiggle.. They have their daily meals and growing nicely.. haha... sorry for the dirty tank though.. (a little lazy to clean it up..)Thanks bro BB.. No, i dont separate my Kk stripes and KK pandas... i keep them together... i do put in female blue bolts inside as well.. (also KK mosura or Hinomaru.. lol~~)I do feed them nightly (daily) with their shrimp food... 4 types of different food to feed alternately... i think those biofilms are just main course while my food are their supplements.. hahaha... i dont think you need lots of plants for them to survive... i prefer to see shrimps then see plants... :pi do dose in powder bacteria or liquid bacteria once in awhile so that it will strengthen or grow new nitrifying bacteria in my filtration columns.... well, no harm adding lots of bacteria in the tank... hehe..haha... i never clean the sides of the tank at all.... you are just making it sounds like an achievement!! hahaha.... that's just a dirty uncleaned glass panel with green algae... :pBut this is an 'aim' when i am setting up tank for breeding shrimps... normally when the tank has reached maturity, these green algae will grow nicely and cover the sides.. (front glass will be scrape so that i can see shrimps) Upon seeing these happen in my tank, i know that its ready... Its just one of the 'signs' which i will look out for and i will want to cultivate for my tank...I think it might be the bacteria overload which i have been dosing since start of the tank which causes this... Tanks which using NB (Taiwan) products seems to be able to achieve this very quickly in 3 weeks from start of tank.. But using Biodigest, it might take about 6-8 weeks before seeing any...I doubt Oto might be able to clear those, horned nerite snails might do better in cleaning them.. no snails for me, i have limpets and seed shrimps over running my tank... haha...Those furry stuff on the substrate are actually brown diatoms (symptoms of new tank) but this tank has been running for the past 3 months maybe.... might be some imbalance of nitrate, co2, o2 or lighting... but dont really bother so much when the shrimps are ok and they are breeding... what i can do is to add in some Red Nose Shrimps to clean those furry stuff up... they do quite a good job in clearing algae or diatoms.... My shrimps dont really eat much of those brown furry stuff... if they did, they would have cleared it long ago (sad) with a population of near 200 KK inside... Another thing is that KK has a picky taste on food... so have to keep giving them different variety of food to 'amaze' them.. LOL~

Hi alvin, just like to ask how times does your pump turn over the water in your tank per hour. I'm just confuse at the amount of flow needed in the tank. I'm so happy you are on this forum and so many shrimp breeders in australia are learning so much from an expert like you.

Thanks for your compliments..

Based on EHEIM 2215 should be 620LPH (litre per hour) but after I have placed an inline canister and also running for months, I would assume that the flow rate would be approximately 300LPH...

Actually strength of flow is best to be gradual, not too strong in case it becomes a washing machine..

But monitor the circulation...

Happy shrimping...

Alvin, u, and ur shrimp are my new inspiration :)

this was an epic read!! im new to this forum and just stumbled upon this thread and havnt really talked to my gf since! :p (needless to say she's not overly impressed, at me that is... not ur shrimp.. she loves ur shrimp... i showed her ur shrimp to justify why i spend sooo much time reading and looking at shrimp) :p im sure there are many who know this situation well.

u definately set the bar for what i have seen as possible. ur shrimp belong in shrimp porno mags for all to gaze and drool over. many a sticky pages im sure! ;)

those macro shots ur friend took look like the shrimp on my poster or the packaging of top end shrimp products.. simply stunning work!! u must be so proud. if i can acheive a tenth of what u have acheived i'd be stoked!

i dont envy ur power bill tho :p it must be a whopper!! not to mention the soil and media requirements... but i love the attitude.. 'go hard or go home!!'... the 'all in' approach... the 'balls n all' strategy. whatever u want to call it.. i love ur work! keep it up! ;)

cheers,

shrimpstan
