Mischling x tiger outcomes

Recommended Posts

Totally agree with shrimpstan and kiwi, the potential is there for dishonesty and accidental selling of not pure tb/tiger I think buying from any of us that abide by the skf coc would be the only guarantee, unfortunately we can only control what we sell, but have able to give new breeders the opportunity to step up to tb without people doubting what they sell, otherwise their will only be a handful of trusted tb breeders which limits potential of creating new strains, it's a fine line, but skf can take the lead as we have in implementing the coc and pricing guide. Maybe a sellers money back guarantee of pure lines?

Cheers mick

Loving the content so far. This is a subject close to my heart and I finally found a place that I can share ideas at....

Have you found misch x tiger to be the stable cross that gives you fertile F1.

Why not jump right in with Tibee x tiger ? For instance KK x OEBT .

FYI - and KK is a Taiwan Bee or TB NOT a Tibee - a Tibee is a tiger crossed to any sort of bee shrimp (CRS/CBS/TB)

Someone (BB/Dean/Ninja etc) with more experience in crosses should comment/clarify.

Ha ha ha that's what my brain was telling me at 5 55 am the fingers weren't up to speed just yet. - yes I meant Taiwan bee. Since you clarified that CRS/CBS and TB could make Tibee when crossed to Tiger it makes more sense to use mischling as they already contain the Taiwan Bee gene. But I am still curious to find out if anyone has bred Taiwan x Tiger straight off the bat :)

I guess it all comes down to a couple things... we are trying to put colour onto what was already a wild type pattern , second by making these crosses we hope to open up new pathways for colour cells to express themselves. What we really need to find out and I can't wait for are Autosomal dominant mutations to appear in the hobby- seems now all we have to play with are recessive colour patterns.

Well the more I dig around this great forum the more I learn about our shrimp! This place has taught me more in the last two hours than I found out in two weeks of researching the www.

I just discovered you have a Magenta colour mutation :Scratch-Head: awesome!

Feel free to correct me at any stage... I am still a noob :)

One interesting thing he mentioned was "Bacteria pressure", which I guess just means number of bacteria around.  Yet I see all these other videos from shrimpkeepers bragging about how much bacteria their filtering system holds. Also interesting is no mention of using anti-biotics to treat bacterial infection.  I think that has fallen out of favor recently.

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.
