Shrimpy's Fluval Edge 23l

Featured Replies

G'day folks, recently purchased a second-hand fluval edge 23l and currently cycling the tank. Planning to stock CRS/Taiwan bees or even tigers.

Had set the tank up this week, firstly adding a nice layer of Mosura Old sea mud powder

Cool. I have the exact tank as well, but eventually ripped out the lighting and filter...using a 2213 and a led strip (the light globes get the tank too got during summer.... Even with the led's I still need to use a fan to keep temp's below 25.

Looking fwd to the updates ....:-)

Hi Bluebolts, would you be able to share how you changed the lighting to LED and cooling unit for your tank? Those are two main issues that i was worried about when i setup this tank.

I'd grab decent filter for this setup for bee's. Such a small tank with high end shrimp is not worth the risk.

Keen to see how you go... Following.  :thumbsu:

I think BB might mean that the entire original filter/lighting of the fluval was removed and replaced with an eheim filter and an LED Light, like an Up Aqua Pro LED light. Which can be rested on the top of the tank or suspended.

Yep, jayc is spot on....I tried several mods with the lights, and it was just too troublesome, PLUS i need space in the back column for the filter tubing etc, I basically just removed the entire light bracket/holder, and have a LED sitting on the top glass. Tank's been running for a while now, and no issues etc.... It's got a eheim 2211 (300lt/h), which is great.

Looks fantastic dude, can't wait to see it all setup & cycled, will be watching this thread with eager anticipation! :thumbsu:

Overall very pleased how it has turned out so far. Currently using a 2ft Up aqua light to promote plant growth and algae growth on walls. I plan to continue with water changes and cycling for another good month until i will add some livestock. Can't wait!
