How is this even possible?

Day 1 evening just before I put in some moss:

Day 3 In the morning

image.thumb.jpeg.5906fd7b34ff78ac9917b38All the typus replaced by a single black cherry, meta cube still sealed.

I've managed to round 6 back up and will see if it happens again. Might have a gap in my cube?

Might be a new specie: Caridina Typus Houdinitus :5565bf0371061_D::5565bf0371061_D:

They are good at that. Check the floor too.

They've done it again, this time out of both. How are they even getting out of the metacube, I thought these were like little prisons.

If its open at the top C. typus can, and will,  leave the water and climb up and over.

Yeah I know which is why all exits are closed. It's doing my head in as to how they keep escaping.

Have you got the teleport inhibitor turned on? Maybe needs new batteries?

Are those Amano shrimp? They are very good at climbing up anything that has friction for them to grip, and even walking on dry land (able to run on dry land very fast for short distance).

They are not Amano shrimp. Caridina typus is their scientific name, we call them typus or Aussie Amanos.

Oh.... I see. Are they swamp shrimp like the Amano?

From the last photo, I could see a hole for the suction cup on the other side of the metacube. You should have a suction cup in that hole as well else shrimps can escape through that hole.

They are good at it, when I bring them in from ponds they climb the silicone in the tank corners so I keep tight lids and low water, once they have been in the tank a week they are AOK and happy to stay put, have you seen them in the main tank yet??

They tend to climb at night, I guess its a way to avoid the shrimp eating crowd in the wild and boy can they climb, if I get the chance I will take a Vid of them climbing a wall of a bridge to move up stream, they climb some good rock faces to

Aaaaaah that must be it then. I'll take another look.

They are walking around in the tank and not interested in climbing out which is good I suppose.
