No once they have pinto genes they are no longer pure TB, are you sure you saw "PURE TB with pinto genes" in description of auction as I never saw it? The ones with the white face however are from Mosura BB hence the non black face...

It's good to get peoples opinions about our hobby. it's a big learning curve for us all especially with all the new varieties and colours we are now getting.

Chi I am not necessarily talking about the auction in general although there were a few where pure seemed to be implied. I'm just starting a dialogue about shrimp varieties and colours in general. I am also not having a "go" at anyone I am curious as to where we go from here considering we will now have more mixed type shrimp coming available- I have Pintos showing up in my tanks too so I am definitely not a "purist" in fact most of my shrimp are not pure!

There are a few facebook sites selling shrimp now and these also have shrimp that have questionable breeding. As I said to Disciple this is a big learning curve for us all and I'm sure I am not the only one thinking along these lines.

@ineke never took it as you having a go (don't know where you got that idea from? LOL!), I was just stating what I saw and didn't see. Please don't think I took any offence as I didn't. Your questions are legitimate ones...I hav etried to answer them to best of my knowledge...

It's Ok Chi I was just making it clear that I didn't have anyone in particular in my mind when saying anything -I never thought you were implying anything either so it's all good. :)

With the amount of crossing and selling of low grade and culls the quality is on a down hill trend as we have seen with cherrys and cbs/crs .The only thing now I do is Don't trust anybody for there word unless you have delt with them before with no drama on quality .But saying that when money is involved you still may even get stung.

Great questions Ineke! Ive been wondering about the same things lately and it's been great to read through and learn from everyone's answers. Think I'll bookmark this topic, so I can find it easier, as I reckon I'll be referring back to it a lot

I hope more people feel free to add their thoughts here. I have very limited knowledge of the new varieties of TB .It was so much easier when we just had the KK, Panda and Bluebolt but it is so much more exciting now the new varieties are here and we can only expect more!
