Eheim 2080 canister filter intakes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just doing some preliminary research on the possibility of converting our large tank to shrimp. This tank is filtered by an Eheim 2080 (very large canister filter) with 16mm Eheim grille intakes (2x).

Was after recommendations on options for covering these up to prevent shrimplets from being sucked in. I am either considering the mesh style or a foam sleeve of some open cell type.

Would appreciate your thoughts.

The mesh grills are the go but the foam will work well too. :D

Yep as Squiggle said, i just use panty hose on mine and find it works well, keeps the internal filter media nice and clean.
