woo hoo, came home last night and found my female is berried again. only a week after dropping her first lot. she is a bit of a hussy I think. I also have three or four saddled girls from my new acquisitions. all seem to be moulting nicely, so the new 2 foot tank seems to be to their liking. population explosion soon I think :)

First time I seen a molt I got freaked out a bit as well. Very nice looking shrimp, I love the red rostrum

this male has navy stripes on his neck, is he still a blue gene red rilli or a ring in? 0152_zpse6d353ef.jpg0162_zpse469aa8e.jpg

forgot to mention my big Mumma had her babies tonight too. 18 days berried again. seems to be a trend with her. the last lot survived so hopefully this lot will too. have been hunting with the magnifying glass but haven't spotted them yet.

Looks like it could be a blue rili mutation, very cool & awesome news about your babies, very well done! :thumbsu:

I hope i get this mutation too one day.

just an update. my first girl is berried for the 4th time yesterday. her first lot of babies turned out red. not sure why, but they are pretty just the same. one of them is berried as well and lots of them are saddled. I have kept them in a different tank to the blues. I also have heaps of berried blues. seem to have a constant 6 - 7 berried blues all the time. loving these shrimp, they are so addictive. I have added a photo of my first born red girl who is just over three months old and berried :)

That's fantastic news, very well done! :thumbsu:

As the blue gene rilis are a line bred evolution from normal red rilis you will inevitably get a percentage of them, you just have to keep doing what you are doing & remove the reds. Eventually you will get a higher percentage of blues with each generation. Keep up the good work! :D

Great work! Wonderful when your bubs grow up to be mums! You must be doing something right!

I am thinking of setting up a third tank and putting the darkest blue ones together. hopefully I can get a third line of even better quality ones. I have at least 2 - 3 more highly coloured blue boys and half a dozen highly coloured females. these ones have navy blue stripes near the neck like the one in the photo I posted on the 17th August :) plus there must be over 100 youngsters in the tank now, so hopefully some nice coloured youngsters coming through from them.

Absolutely fantastic work Lozza, the blue rili like in the pic are definitely worth pursuing & it sounds like you have the makings of an epic colony, definitely need more tanks! :thumbsu:

Hi. it has been a while since I posted. shrimp still going strong. have a lot that are a deeper blue than the originals that I got. lots have navy blue stripes running through their bodies. I noticed a strange one a couple of days ago. it seems to have a black saddle. and another that looks to have black eggs. not sure what to make of either of them. normally the darkest the eggs go are a deep orange when the Mummas are getting close to dropping young. what do you think could be happening here? 055_zpsct9fwhlu.jpg038_zpsuosw6xjc.jpg

Some of mine have gone through that colour and the babies looked almost like Carbon Rilis although Carbon Rili don't come from this line supposedly. Good luck keep us updated I am very interested to see what you get. I lost most of mine last year :(

  1. I might have to separate them from the others before the babies arrive. I am interested to see what they look like too :D
  2. sorry you lost most of yours :(

Yes I had a horrible experience and lost nearly all my lovely Neo's. Probably will never get to the bottom of what happened but 10 tanks were affected and it hit the cherries hardest. But I'm slowly getting numbers up again just not the cherries except for a few nice blacks and a couple of very blue rilis
