Making moss ball

Featured Replies

I thought I'd mention the different ways I've tried making a moss ball as I just got bored and made one with subwassertang :)

First time was with some bits of wood broken off from a peice of driftwood, about the size of a 20c coin each. I wrapped some java moss around it then tied some cotton around it, nothing fancy.

Second time was again with javamoss but this time I wound the moss into a tight ball then wound some cotton around it. I found the ball floated for about a week but now sits on the tank floor

The way I've just tried is actually subwassertang moss tied around a benibachi crimson bee ball, hoping to achieve the rose effect that (I believe) squiggles managed in one of his threads.

I found this little product when I was oversea, its designed specifically for making moss balls, they have one that sinks and one that floats.

This is the sinking ones I got, pearl moss, mini pellia and fissden balls...

pretty simple design really, you put the moss on the outer shell and then just cap it

Simple and nice. Hope you brought 100's back and so then to us ?

lol, consider its $3.5 a pop.. I reckon its a bit overpriced .. so I only bought a few to try it out myself.

How much for that? I found from flebey, it's around $6 each, quite expensive >"

That's a great idea but they do sound a bit exy. :dejection:
