HOORAY!!! That's such good news' date=' I'm glad she's doing better. It could go either way putting her back in the tank with the others, I'm leaning towards it being ok because there's a few girls in there & she will be able to get out of the way of any one particular girl giving her any grief.

Did a 20% change of water today to get the water back to normal before I release the Betta into fish tank later in the week. She came out of hiding to play in the bubbles for a while and hangs around the front of the cube when I am doing something- think she is lonely anyway she looks good swelling completely gone and eating well. Look good for release into tank .

I'm glad she looks like she will make it. The tank is the next test but I will give them some blood worms and secretly slip her in!!!!!

I've released my girl back into the big tank. There were a few flares at each other from a few of the girls but it looks Ok. I thought I would do it just after lights out so she may be left in peace overnight, then again they might all gang up on her. I guess thats the chance you have to take so fingers crossed she will be OK in the morning

Well the old girl is still going strong a bit brow beaten by the youngsters but looking good. I still think one of the young girls has turned out to be a boy his/her fins are getting longer and can't see that elusive egg tube I was sure he/ she had. Do many females get longer fins they are not like my older male but longer than all its siblings

I have seen girl with longer fins but it is not encouraged by the IBC(world governing body for Betta judging) they want females to stay females, only time it gets confusing is with Plakats(short fins) another guaranteed way to tell a male is the "beard" when they flare at each other, the gland that drops down from the gill plates, also males have much longer ventral fins(paired fins at the bottom) If you put up a pic I might be able to tell for you :encouragement:

Mm sounds like a male not sure about the beard as haven't seen a lot of flaring but the ventral fins are longer and I noticed the body is longer not short and plump like the other girls. I haven't seen any problems with my older male with this younger one. The tank is fairly big so they have lots of room to keep out of each others way. But I guess I will have to find a new home for him. I will try and take a picture tomorrow but I only have my phone available .

This is a great example of the bread while flaring, girls flare at each other too but don't have the beard, sounds like a male from what you're telling me :encouragement:

I've seen the beard on my male just not on this little fellow. I just wonder why they aren't confronting each other. My older boy had beautiful bubble nest in his jar when I bought him but even when in the smaller tank has not built any nests and hasn't really shown much interest in the girls. Do I take a chance and leave them together or should I try to get the LFS to take one

If you're really that sure it's a male & you don't have the room then back to the LFS is probably the best way to go :dejection:

I will take a picture tomorrow and see what you think. But I don't want anyone having more stress than necessary- all for a peaceful life me!

If the tank is big enough, there is enough hiding places & enough females the they can live together, just have to keep an eye on them for too much fin damage :encouragement:
