The died shrimps was because of the chiller, the last time it was the water pump that failed.

At least you know why they died so can correct that and know for the future?

Mine aren't doing well this time at all and I have NO idea why, just plodding on regardless and hoping for better in time????? Not buying any more though at this point!

yep, many of my problem was the chiller, I finally found out the problem before I went to Taipei, its all sorted out.

I've had these shrimps since the 21st of this month, they seem ok, eating and active, when you come very close to the tank, they know and swim away.

As they get used to seeing you they won't swim away! Mine actually come out of hiding when I go to the tank first thing in the morning!

I thinking of getting a Hailea HC130a chiller, can anyone recommend this chiller for shrimp use.

This isn't my field as we don't need such devices with our cold climate........... but I had a quick look pit of curiosity!

I had a quick look though and the flow is 200-1000 l/min, isn't that way too powerful, especially for small tanks even on the slowest flow????? Looks like a serious bit of kt!!

Are you looking to replace the chillers that have been causing problems?

I'm considering this new chiller to replace the DIY one, don't want to experience another error, and these new chiller is more power efficient.

The Hailea HC130a is consider little too strong for my tank, even the smallest chiller on the market is too big for my tank, if I use their default unit, as the temperature reading may not be accurate, so I intend to use a external sensor that goes direct to the tank, when connected to my canister, this will also reduce the water flow. 

I have one. Same unit. It just .... works. It's not the top brand name, but functionality is the same as your better brand names like Teco. I have Teco units too, which cost a bit more than the Hailea, yet still does the same job. I have also tried those cheap Aliexpress chillers. 

So I have a bit of experience in this area. 

The Hailea (or Teco) chillers do a much, MUCH better job at keeping your tanks consistently cool. Get one and you will never look at the cheap chillers again. These units are a good investment, especially for anyone living in a hot country.

When fitted to your canister to the chiller, the flow is no more than the flow you have now with just a canister. If anything the flow will be reduced slightly as it now has to go through a chiller.

Always get a unit that is rated slightly bigger than your tank, so that the chiller is not straining to keep the tank cool and is constantly running. If you have a sump that services several tanks, one chiller can be used to cool several tanks.

The Hailea HC130a is more than enough for my tank, my tank is only 16L/3.4G, I was told it's more accurate to use a external temperature probe in the tank, I have plenty of this probe.

I need to ask you a questions, if you have the Hailea HC130a, as I cannot find the information anywhere, it's about the fan on the Hailea HC130a, must be exact model, what type of fan is used in this chiller, are they those like a PC type fan photo one (same as the Resun mini 200) or those with large fins like a A/C. photo two, can you take a photo.

Is the HC130a quiet or very noisy.

Would you recommend either this Hailea HC130a or Resun mini-200.

I cannot take a picture of the fan. My unit is plugged in and running. It's way too much trouble to take it apart.

I wouldn't say any chillers with fans in them to be quiet. It's not too bad I suppose. At least I don't get annoyed by it. Noise is very subjective. What is noisy for you might not be noisy for others.

I ask because I wont have warranty, as it will be sent overfrom china, the chiller buying from china is half the prIce  that of hong kong, for the chiller, the circuit, LED screen , fan if it's the photo one, are really available.

So I would be able to self repair, if it has the Fan from photo two, it will be harder to obtain.

Look at the manual for the HC100a, it does have the same fan as photo one, and the same manual is used for HC130a.

Resun mini 200 has similar spec to the HC130a instead 1/15 RESUN IS 1/13, because the problem its smaller, all the components are so close to each other, the is hardly any room inside for air circulation, but it does has the advantage of a external heater connector, so the controller also controls the heater.

 

about the probe, it has been mention in the internet, if using the internal probe, the reading won't be accurate if the water flow is weak at least 200lph, the probe only require you to disconnect from the Motherboard from the socket to fit a external one and put it in the fish tank for a more accurate read, hailea also sell optional probe.

Either Resun or Hailea are okay. They are about the same quality. The resun, as you said, is smaller and fits your tank size. 

The Hailea is indeed definitely easier to fix. I repaired my own from replacement parts. It's very easy to open up and swap out parts. I had to swap out a faulty circuit board for mine.

 

So you should have enough info now to choose one. It's up to you what you prefer. Good luck choosing one.

I made the purchase for a Hailea HC130a yesterday, I couldn't wait till November 11th, just for a extra HKD100 off.

I've just received my Hailea HC130A today, I can  confirm the HC130a does have a PC type ball bearing fan shown below. I have also put a external temperature probe, only took less than a minute to do, it is connected with a SM2.54 connector which is readly available, the probe house the male side of the socket. there are two notch at the front bottom of the chiller that you can lead the probe cable out of the chiller, so no drilling of any sort needs to be done.

 

My unit was a little scratched at one side and near the panel, the scratch was expected for product coming from china, the radiator fins at some part was a little pushed in and bent, but I put then right so all is good. The chiller came with 4 hose connector, but are all same size, I think it should come with two size, but i'm alright with that.

 

I haven't full tested it yet as the chiller was sent to my work place, apparently the water pump I had at work was too weak to move the water, so I have to test it at home, the probe is working fine.

Those galaxy pintos are so nice. 

I have spotted 5 larger crabs, about 2.5cm from legs to legs, pretty big for a thailand spider crab, had 23 at first, gave 3 away, only seen 5, could be more in the hiding.

They don't touch the shrimps, my shrimps climb all over them some times. buy they do eat the shrimps if dead.
