Hi gang has anyone tried feeding this? I found it at coles while looking for kelp powder. Thought o would give it a go with my cherries first. What due you all think?

Just be carful as it/they are very fine and it's easy to put to much in and dirty your

Yep, the shrimp will love it.... I mix mine with water, and syringe it into the tanks, especially where the shrimplets hang out.

The cherries loooove it!... I presoaked about two pinches in to a feed glass dish and submerged it in to the tank very slowly...it will be intresting to see if it can also work as a string algea deterrant since barley extract is one of the ways to control alguea in ponds. Now just have to find a quemist that would be willing to make pills of a mix of polen and barley powder on a pill press.

Great idea.... Pill press is approx +$600.... More concern with the DEA querying about it though ... LOL.

The benebachi kale tablets are favourites as well....

It's so weird that you replied to that now Dean, I just fed this stuff to my shrimp for the first time about 2 minutes ago and was about to look up this thread xD

I think we all want Dean's secret recipe... I hear it has ground prawn shells to add extra chitosan to promote breeding :p

I just dip my finger in the water to get it a little bit damp and put my finger in the tub of barley grass powder. The powder will stick to your finger and you just basically rub it between your fingers and it kind of makes little pellets. I do that above the tank, they sink and the shrimp are on it pretty quick...

I just guessed/ made it up. Especially the ground prawn shells as a source of chitosan. The voices in my head tell me things, sometimes I listen :p

I too would be very keen to know this recipe also :P . Anything to help raise my shrimps and shrimplets, haven't been using any powdered foods but will source some now after doing some reading

I've been using oats mixed up in my list... I use to keep koi and only fed them on oats and they loved it as well as had excellent growth rates and a noticeable enhancement in colours... better than expensive colour enhancing pellet foods.

so being one of natures super foods I thought the shrimp won't mind it either and they love it! any one use it in their ingredients? I'm not a science person but if it works why not?

So after doing my evening shopping I couldn't find the barley grass powder but I found super greens combo tablets from the same company which has in it Spirulina, Chlorella, Barley Grass and Wheat Grass.

Now if I was to break the tablets down would these be ok for my shrimp?

It usually lives near/ next to those tablets, with that said I got mine from a healthfood store, same with the bees pollen.

Deans food recipe is starting to sound like an intro for the stig.
