Hi folks,

I recently got new shrimp from SoShrimp and I noticed some small blue little balls hanging from the moss included with the new shrimp. The color matches the blue velvets I got... I thought eggs grow in mother's belly and then once they are shrimplets they get out. How does it work?

Not sure, this is what I got when I bought the shrimp. Shrimps are not in breeding age yet, so probably they came out from a mature female of the seller.

Any hope of these eggs to survive?

If they are shrimp eggs, you can artificially hatch them.

Put them in a net close to water flow, like your filter outlet.

Seller told me they might be snail eggs, but they seem too big for snail eggs! Will try the method you said. Shall I close the net tight, or no need?

No need to close the net, as long as the top is above the water line.

Looks like shrimp eggs to me.

Do a search for "DIY egg tumbler". There are two manufactured shrimp egg tumblers, many DIY ideas and some fish egg tumblers can also work for shrimp, as long as the holes are small enough.

Personally, I prefer using tumblers over nets because nets can collapse and squish eggs and/or babies - unless you have a 3D net that doesn't lose it's shape.

 

Main thing, the eggs need constant (or near constant) water flow in order to hatch.

That's cool! I currently have a bubble filter which produces air bubbles, instead of water flow. Does it work, or do I have to install a regular filter?

You need:
Aerator Pump
Aerator Stone
Small Aquarium Siphon
Mesh Screen with fine holes.
A way to puncture the top of the siphon to allow the air to escape.
 

For a once off, what you have is fine and should work.
