mulberry wood?

Featured Replies

Has anyone used mulberry wood in their shrimp tanks with success?

I've found some nice aged pieces around the tree I collect leaves from and I'm tempted to try. After boiling for sterilisation.

It would be just like any other drift wood, I assume. I don't see any issue with it if it's aged and does not have tree sap, and you said you're going to boil it to kill any nasties. So it should be safe to use.

Does your piece look particularly interesting as a tank ornament?

Thanks for the info @jayc

I like its texture and think I could do something nice with it in combo with some moss, so I guess I'll weigh up whether it's worth the extra risk/effort compared with buying something like goldvine to use. If I give it a go I'll post pics of the result!

@waffle any updates or pics?

In the intervening time I discovered that the place I found it could well have been sprayed with insecticide in the not-too-distant past, but there's no way to confirm for sure. So I'm not gonna risk it now. Saaaad!

Better safe then sorry
