So I've had a few drops, counted 17 shrimplets so far. Plus at least 5 or six females still waiting to drop and as an added bonus my nice CBS female who was the first to drop her batch a few days ago is berried again!

the little cold snap earlier this week has yielded some good news with 6 females berried up! first time I've seen action in months.

just over 12 months since this happened and it's just happened again. Little to no breeding over the past year and now with the cold snap I've got a berried female again. Really no clue as to why the breeding just stops for so long.

I have recently had a mass prolonged death march after introducing some snow whites from another breeder..... A lot of my shrimp seem to stop and scratch at there tails??? I'm interested to hear if the uv helped stem your deaths?

Yeah actually thanks for reminding me, the UV filter did do wonders at stopping deaths from happening and I have now remembered it died about 10 months ago and I have not replaced it. Maybe I should invest in another one.

I have not noticed any losses rather just no breeding action for a long time. Still doing regular water changes/topups with RO water remineralized with salty shrimp.

Thanks for your reply..... I wonder if a bacteria takes hold that the uv is good for stopping it as long as you don't introduce newbies. Many thanks

Been a long time since any breeding activity in this tank, I'm pretty certain the females I have left are barren ;)

So it's time to add some new blood.

Got some new CRS females from Aquastar in SA along with some pinto mischlings and small batch of Panda's

Tank has had a good clear out, bolbitis & Java fern had taken over.

My totto filter also got a good clean as it had been off for 9 months after a big storm left us without power for 6 days. Back then I only cleared and started up the 2213 that also was on the tank.

With the new stock I finally got around to making a decent divider using stuff I had in the garage.

Tank area still needs a clean up but for a day's work I'm happy.

And very excited about this

Changed my mind about super glue after remembering I had bought a hot glue gun.

dividers turned pretty neat with hot glue compared to super glue which has a tendency to run and mark the Perspex.

In position in tank.

Unfortunately can't get them evenly spaced in tank due to drilled fitting locations.

Looking good man.

So what shrimp are you adding? or is there another reason for the extra sections?

yeah i recently got some new shrimp, but mainly to make selective breeding easier.

I've currently got from Left to right

Selective CRS pair

6x Panda (new stock, only juvies) was 7 but i lost the best one :(

15x CRS (new Stock mature & juvies & existing older CRS

15x Pinto Misch & BB (new stock, only juvies)

?x CRS culls.

there are also 2 external breeder boxes and 2 internal boxes for projects.

all the new stock has been living under quarantine in the externals since early january, so i needed to shift them into the tank to make way for some CBS Mixed stock i have on the way.

it's all in anticipation of a new tank project i have under way.
