As most are aware, this is something I have been struggling with for a long time now. But one thing is for sure and the classifieds section can’t continue the way it is. Some points to note: The classifieds section is pretty much dead – traffic to that part of the forum confirms it Facebook is where people like to trade now Issues that come up as a result of a sale are extremely taxing and frustrating on the staff here and negates any motivation to keep the classifieds What I propose is this: Removal of for sale section(s) Keep Free/Giveaway – restricted to subscription members only Keep Wanted to Buy – open to all Combined with the trader feedback system and the WTB section, members should still be able to work out who they can/should trade with. But we are essentially removing SKF Aquatics from the equation. This ensures that we remain a content driven forum rather than a marketplace driven one.

Some of you may have noticed this: and this: This is the new SKF Marketplace and will be replacing the current classifieds and auction threads. The marketplace threads you see in the second picture are read only, these have been created to enable users on tapatalk and also those that use the latest posts link to also see what listings are being published. You can't reply or create new threads/posts in those forums. All interaction with the marketplace is via the app accessible in the menubar (first pic). The SKF Marketplace also supports auction style listings for those that want to go down this path. I'll still leave classifieds running for another day or 2 and will make that read only until the current sales run out.

The new SKF Classified app is now live. This is a premium and above member benefit. The current classified forums will shutdown over time as we move people to this new format. There are still a bunch of categories that are missing so please list them here for me to add. And a little something extra special for platinum subscribers and sponsors only:

I know some of you, like myself, use Tapatalk to access the forum. Unfortunately, the scope of Tapatalk is quite limited (core forum functions only) and doesn’t support a lot of the cool forum add-ons you can get. This is not a platform thing, the same limitations existed when we were on VBulletin forum software too – we just hadn’t invested in the type of cool mods we have today. If you don’t like using your mobile browser, we do have another method of getting the information. Happy to announce that we also support RSS feeds here on SKF. To get the feed URL, click on the RSS logo found in the site footer and select the feed that you want to use. Add this to your favourite RSS reader on your device. Not sure what RSS reader to use? Maybe members can post their experiences and recommendations here with the various ones around.
