They are playing it safe, as they have a reputation to uphold. So they will always say no. All the tetracycline products I have are also sold in pet shops for birds.

It should be. Oxytetracycline is still a tetracyline antibiotic. Usage is still the same - Dissolve in water to treat bacteria. Doesn't matter if it's for birds or fish or shrimp.

Thanks jayc. I contacted the website selling it and they advised against it so wanted reassurance was all.

I happen to be very good at making simple things unnecessarily complex ? I saw someone do it with an airline so I figured that might be quicker for me to setup than having to find a jar, and it might provide more oxygen to allow for a quicker culture. But I want the best chance for success so I think I’ll do two, one in a bottle with airline, and one in the setup you described. I’m sure yours will work better, but the other one has a 2 day head start so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best. Thanks jayc.

Hey guys, I wanted to keep tetracycline on hand and noticed in the OP, Oxymav B was suggested after Blue Planet. At 100g, it is much cheaper than BP, as well as oxytetraycline from eBay. As it is not intended for use in aquarium, rather birds, is it safe to use? TIA
