This picture shows pictures of 15 different fish that are claimed to be Endlers, in-fact only five are true endlers the rest are hybrids, I will give a pair of true 'P'class Blue Star Endlers ( you pay postage) for the the person who picks out the five true endlers .I have numbered them to help you choose competition will run from today 15th September 2020 to Sunday 20th September 2020 and close at 3pm that day 2 winners will be selected and will be the first two correct entries submitted Thank you Cheers Wayne

Close to end of summer here, should I collect my leaves while they're still green on the tree or should I wait until they turn brown? In the past I collected brown leaves while they were still on the tree, boiled them and then dried for the rest of the year. I've recently read that the green leaves have more nutrition. I have a safe Magnolia tree that I use one leaf per week in each tank.

As soon as I drop in a dried brown leaf into my tank, the shrimp & otos land on it. Otherwise, I feed 1 scoop Bacter EA once a week, they feed off the biofilm (they won't touch any brand pellet I drop in). It's a 20 gallon tank with about 100 Fire Red Neocaridina.

I've gotta say, this little competition has got me pretty interested. Researching deeper into my hobbies is always a good time, and it's one of my favourite things to do when I have the time... hence me spending probably half an hour of research and note-taking so far on this contest. I'm 99% sure I have the answer, after a little bit of thinking and googling, but one thing is giving me doubts - you said I only got 3 correct on my attempt, but based off my current thinking, I'm pretty sure I got 4/5. Anyways, I'll PM you my guess and my reasoning tomorrow, can't be bothered now, and I'm not too fussed about winning - my competitive spirit just wants me to be right ? Cheers!

This is what I do... 1) if using as food, I pick green and blanch them in boiling water for a minute. 2) if using leaves to create a biotope, I use brown leaves that have dropped.

I don't see harm in collecting green leaves. The guy I bought my first ever group of shrimp from used fresh mulberry leaves (I assume boiled) in his shrimp tanks.

yes of course you can, actually I feel a bit mean making it Australia only but unfortunately we can't send livestock overseas and the people in WA and Tas miss out as well due to their states regulations. Everyone can have a go except those mentioned above don't get the prize but I will mention you in this post. by the way mate you got two numbers right BIG HINT 3&9 cheers

This is awesome Wayne! I'm just doing a bit of process of elimination. I only know a few of those (3, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15) but I know only one or 2 of those can be true endlers. Tough! Can we have more than one try? I feel there's probably not a huge chance of somebody getting all 5.

Ooo a little competition. Good job Wayne, love the idea. I am going to go with 15, 8, 11, 6 and 9 (because you gave us a clue as the prize is a Blue Star Campoma).

I collect leaves in autumn when they have dropped from the tree to the ground, and have enough for the whole year! I don't boil them, just make sure they are properly dry and store them away. With leaves from the tree you probably do need to boil them if you plan to use them as a directt food source though and I assume there is more nutrition in fresh leaves. I don't really use the leaves as a direct food source, I tend to use them for releasing goodness into the tank and growing biofilm. Sometimes I use fresh spinach and that needs cooking first and the shrimp used to swarm on that and eat that. If you are asking whether it is best to DRY green leaves, or brown leaves I'm not all that sure which would be better? Obvviously any leaves must be from an organic source free of any possible polution as well. Simon

This I find very interesting but obviously as a viewer rather than a participant for the prize. 8 and 2 I have bought before as endler guppies but as you say 1 definitely wasn't so probably neither was the other. 11 really would be the nearest that I would have considered an endler but you say isn't. 6 and 14 I have seen for sale over here as endlers but assumed they aren't as they look too different and one of them you say isn't an endler so I assume the other isn't either. 13 looks like a female so that could be a curveball? My guess 3 (given), 9 (given), 5 (1 in 3 chance), 7 and 10 (process of elimination/guess work)? Simon
  14. Crabby
Haha I was just saying the ones I am aware of, just took some time to right down the ones that are eliminated and which ones are definite right then, I had 3, 5 and 9 down as my P/N class ones right before you sent that last post. #10 got an immediate elimination as soon as I looked closer and saw the line of white writing at the bottom... specifically '(hybrid)'. Whoops... I'm gonna go with 3, 4, 5, 9 and 13 as my official guess. Cheers!

Ah, fair enough. As long as your happy with them that's great.

I paid about the price of a high red cherry shrimp for them. So it’s more than what I would have paid for them if I had know they are just plain old cherry shrimps. I bought them from a retailer, was ordered through a WhatsApp group and it was delivered home. The retailer had sent a video of the shrimps but it was a top view and it was hard to have made the difference. I went ahead with a trust in the retailer. I do not believe it was a rip off, I think the retailer also just did not know they were cherry shrimps with a wild type coloration. The understanding of tiger shrimps and their types and colorations are not that available locally imo. I am happy to keep them. I love keeping them. But assuming they were tigers I have added dream blue cherry shrimps into the same tank. So they will all interbreed and there would be no more dream blues!!! This tank would not become an oddball/ cull tank. That’s fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, those are absolutely cherries mate. How much did you pay for them? If they were sold at tiger prices, for that quality of cherry shrimp, that's an absolute ripoff!
  18. Crabby
Yeah, would be good to see a photo of the whole tank, so we can see what sort of setup you have going.

I'm not sure whether shrimp would stop breeding because of overpopulation, but any environment can only support a finite number of creatures though, I do believe that, so most of the babies would be likely to die off I expect! Simon
