Just bought myself some Celestial Pearl Danios ! 12 of them. 4 males and the rest females. Unfortunately, no photos yet. They are super shy and have not coloured up yet. Love these little fellas. They are so interesting. Same parameters as my shrimp tanks, but it's not going into any tank with shrimps, yet.

thanks for your reply, , i guess i should have made clear i am breeding pinto caridinas, no sexual colour difference and you can tell their color and pattern from birth, still i rephrase my question: are the juveniles that go frantic when a female has moulted, males? sure but i apply a more Severe selection pressure to males, leaving fewer males than females in the tank, thus a female does not have to be as good as a male to pass the post

The CPD are in a 3 ft tank, shallow tank, about 80L. It's heavily planted, so they have heaps of places to hide. Maybe too much actually.

Yeah i would have thought that they also back breed, so i may get blue bolts out of nowhere. Another excuse to set up yet another tank. ? I want to preserve the current populations traits as they were selectively bred for a very long time. Would be a shame for it to get too diluted. Will keep the ones with interesting patterns in the main one i think.
