Hey Guys, just wanted to post an update - as a thanks for all the info ? I did stick to the active substrate, just went with Caridinas that benefit from the whole scenario. Aka the lower the PH the better. Thank you again ? - and hope you enjoy this little still image footage, captured with a potato (no fancy macro lens)

So about a month ago I left my aquarium light if for 16 hours accidentally and ever since I’ve had horrible green water I’ve tried blacking out my tank for days I’ve tried water changes nothings worked. I recently bought some shrimp/plant sage algaecide to try combat this and I’ve sterilisers are hard to find in Melbourne for a decent price. Any other ideas? It’s really bad at this stage and I’m worried for my fish and plants.

How long ways 'days"? I'd start with removing that light as the first step. Then clean the sides of the tank, water change as much water as possible. Refill the tank to parameters that suit your livestock. Then black out the tank again immediately after refilling for at least a week. Algeacides will harm your shrimp, so that's out. The alternative is H2O2. I'll link a page that goes through it in detail. https://www.aquasabi.com/aquascaping-wiki_algae_hydrogen-peroxide-treatment A combination of all of the above should cure it. The last option is UV light, but that's going to cost you money.

Did some maintenance last night, water change, quick clean, removed some snails on the glass, it'll take time to get rid of them but oh well. Might look at a different LED also, something not so close to the surface, or something that I can use to extend the LED I have at the moment.

Hi, Mid wales near shrewsbury. I have seen the shrimp on proshrimp and I have been buying plants from them for a little bit, I would prefer a more personal/cheaper option might be available from someone in the community who would be looking to scim a few if they have too many for example to pay for their next food order etc. If this isn't an option thats ok, I'll bite the bullet and use proshrimp. Haven't found an ebay seller I like the look of with a down to earth info section and a picture that has been taken from google...perhaps i'm a little skeptical though!

Our UK members should band together and sell surplus or give away shrimp to each other. Back to the old school days. That's how I started, shrimp were rare and only place to buy them were from other keepers.
