Me too, curious. I mixed cherry and yellow neos. Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk

Apologies if this topic has been covered. A number of my neos, of all colors, display a prominent back stripe (see picture). It is more prominent in some over others. Is this just a genetic trait or is it indicative of a subspecies? Just curious, thanks!
  3. Zoidburg
Yes, genetic. Females are also more likely to get this stripe than males, but males can sometimes get it too.
  4. sdlTBfanUK
The photos are good, showing the stripe. It isn't that unusual to get a stripe now and again, most people will/have experience that with neocaridina at some stage, though I haven't yet found someone who can explain it? I think, as you say,it is just a genetic trait! Just enjoy the diversity! Simon

Apparently one of my tanks contains a bit of a beatnik Hippie, aside from the over grown algae he seems happy enough always getting about the tank eating. The other day when I was removing algae from the hollow log the BN hangs out in I almost ripped off Mr Hippie snails hairstyle since he was pretending to be just another algae covered bump on the log.

Another of my nerites this time doing an impersonation of a Nutty Professor.
