I sure did, thanks for the advice. I both cut down the light schedule to 6 hours, completely removed the blue spectrum, decreased the intensity of each other spectrum to 35-40%, and started dosing a bio-available carbon source( Easy Carbo). Algae turned red, pink, than white. Nearly gone. Thanks for the help!!

Wow lovely tank! So what did you do to get rid of the algae again? Did you follow my advice to cut light period to 6 hours? You might be able to increase that to 7 or 8 hours now. Give the plants a boost but hopefully still keep the algae in check. It's a fine a balance.

Update: Just back from visiting family for the holiday. Buddy looked after tank, abs did a fantastic job. No additional casualties to be noted. Yes! Nuisance Algae is 99% gone, abs everything looks GREAT! First generation of babies have grown more, abs they are out as much as the adults.

Ever since I did the complete lights out and only 6 hrs lighting, the hair algae has been slowly going away. It grew quickly on the glass, but was easy to remove. The algae on the Ludwigia is slowly crumbling off. The algae on the s. repens and MC have stopped increasing, but they are kind of harder to remove.

Yes, almost certainly due to the seiryu rocks.

With RO water and GH+, your KH should be 0. Is the 2 KH due to the rocks?

It's normal for them to molt in new tank parameters... but you don't want them molting too frequently.

This tank was for shrimps, so it only has a foam filter "powered" by air, so, not so many waterflow. Though, I found some of that mess in another tank with good waterflow. Was bleached too yesterday ?

Thank you. I have replaced the rocks with Cholla wood and did a 30% water change. Hopefully, this should stabilize the TDS and lower the PH even further (its 6.4 currently). I am noticing that the shrimp are molting frequently since I added them on Wednesday, is this sign of stress? Out of 10 shrimp I have already seen 4 molts. Tank info: I am using RO water and mineralize with GH+. Substrate is Fluval stratum and have christmas/Java moss and Java fern. TDS 140; PH 6.4; KH 2; GH 6. I feed bacter AE and snow pops.

? Fingers crossed. Do you have any water flow in the tank? Maybe you need more water flow?

Update: H²O² did nothing Bleach instantly makes it turning green, then white So, everything has been taken out from the tank, soak in bleach, rinsed. Hope that's enough to cure and get rid of this mess.

The rocks ought to be fine in the other tank. I was thinking evaporation at first as well, but based on the information, I figured there was probably something more going on. As with anything, keep an eye on the parameters. Fluval isn't considered one of the best substrates out there and there's a chance that the buffering capacity isn't working well due to the KH being in the tank. It might need to be replaced to keep a low pH tank.

There is a good video about Taiwan bee shrimps not breeding in winter so it is worth watching if this is something happening to you, great videography as well? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYvkSWrZAEc My taiwan bees aren't breeding and I suspect that it is because it is winter here and so it was really bad timing on my part as they probably reached breeding age as winter started, d'oh! I think I have said elsewhere on here, but can't now find it (my bad) that my small 15L tank I started with didn't have this happen but I found my old notes and babies/berried shrimp actually didn't start to be seen until end of March (then it went crazy) so again it appears to confirm this affected that tank as well, and it doesn't seem to matter the size of tank if this is correct. Annoyingly this means I have to try and keep these adults alive until spring, though I can hope there may be some babies soon (oblivious)?? Simon
