I’ve just watched a video on YouTube showing the exact meter I bought.....and it’s a fake! There are a few differences, the main one being the missing screw for calibration. I’ve contacted the ebay seller to see what they say. I’ll buy the TDS calibration solution and take it from there. Thank you again for putting me on the right track. ?

That's what I've been trying to figure out all these months. Really the only difference is the Malaysian driftwood, fluval filter, java ferns. The big tank does have a lot of plants but I can see now hiw they may not be able to reach the gourd sources. I've bought more plants to fill it up so maybe that'll help. I still haven't introduced any babies to big tank. I'll let you know when I do

Cheers Simon. It never crossed that mind that the meter could be anything but genuine. I agree, the one that came with Zerowater will be reliable but I will check it against the aquarium shops one.

I'm probably the only person who has spent a whole lots of money on a nano tank, with all the necessary equipment that you can think of.

I wouldn't think you should need one of those for a shrimp tank, probably why I hadn't heard it before. See if anyone else says otherwise here? You probably have enough equipment there in mission control.............. I think all/most of the new shrimps I have are female, but as it is winter here they probably wouldn't breed yet anyway even if there is a male? Simon

It seems most of the larger shrimps are male, the female looks kind of small, so I will have to wait. A pre filter is a extra canister filter to filter out the larger waste, that's why I think I may not need it for a shrimp tank.

You have a nice mix of colours there. Sounds like you lost a lot of crabs but you probably had too many anyway. You are probably better off with the Amano in with the caridina anyway so unless you needed it to remove algae I wouldn't worry about that vanishing shrimp, I expect the crabs and shrimps ate it when it died? Next step is getting babies, are any berried? Can't help about the prefilter as I don't even know what that is................. Simon

Update: Right now I have about 16 shrimps, including 5 Red Galaxy Pinto's, just added the 5th pinto 4 days ago, the other 4 pinto's has been over a month now, also 4 Blue Shadow Panda's, and 7 Red Wine's, and about 5 crab's, my 1 Amano shrimp died, the other shrimps kept attacking it, and somehow, just disappeared. Seems like the water is at a stable condition, I'll just wondering whether I should add a pre filter, what do you think, it's the only think I need to consider, my tank has everything else. thanks

Thanks again zoid. I googled how to calibrate my TDS-3 meter and it involves turning a small screw in the back of the meter. I’ve checked the meter and there’s no screw in the hole. I’m going to return it and try the new meter.

Understood, I will try to save up the money to buy and try this product. If I have any further questions then, I will definitely reach out to you guys again and update!

Thanks for the reply Zoid, the plan is to use Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+ when I change to RO. That said, I'll have to check what happens with the dragon rock, as you said, it could affect the water with increased TDS.I certainly wont be introducing any shrimp until I'm as sure as I can be that they'll do ok. I've just used both meters to measure the TDS, I'm getting readings of 316 on the one I bought and 484 on the one I got with the Zerowater jug. I'm going to a big aquarium shop over the weekend and I'll see if I can get calibration done.

Hi there , i am 100% sure that the problem is not the pressure of the water.... Something in the big tank...

Hello again everyone. Just an update and a question. My nursery tank has been working like gang buster and I've got 21 babies and 3 more pregnant females. Thanks everyone for your help. My question is what should I change in the 60 gallon to fix my issue with the dying shrimp? The differences in the tanks are Malaysian driftwood, fluval filter, splash bar, atmospheric pressure (because the 60 gallon is 30 inches tall, nursery is 12)
