I bought them (and every other shrimp product under the sun) when I first saw them come out, but never reordered more when I ran out. It's one of those things that is impossible to quantify, like oxygenators and scores of other products catered to us. I'm not ready to call them all snake oil or anything, but I'm having better success taking the minimalist approach these days and not adding much to my tanks at all.

I've owned both brands on the reef side of things also, and like you said both are solid choices with the Kessil being very high end. The latest software update from the Fluval 3.0 has people raving on other forums. I would not invest in either of these if not setting up a high tech tank with pressurized CO2. I mean, you could dial them down easily enough but if doing that there are less expensive LED options than either that would fit the bill quite well. Went to submit this yesterday and there was a forum update going on. Yes, that Fluval will grow pretty much any carpeting plant. There are many tank journals online of people using them with spectacular results. I do not doubt that the Kessil is more "hand crafted" and better made, but you hit the point of diminishing returns for your dollar at some price point.

That's why I couldn't see it. Well done, that is a very nice set up. Your shrimp are going to love it in there. Now you just need to wait for cycling to complete. You should try hiding the outflow pipe behind the plants for a stealth look.

Thanks a lot for your comments. I slowly began to plant and add ramshorn snails :)) I have moss, bucephalandra and I will add them soon. I used eheim substrat, mironekuton powder to in the ugf. occasionally adding bacteria ae. I used a yoga mat for a soft surface on the floor. Because it’s soft, thin, black and sexy ? Loss my leafs but i will add. Was a nice and fun setup for me ? For you video upload ?

It is way too easy to get carried away with this hobby as we all know, especially when all is going well! I would hold of getting any more shrimp until you get back as you don't know what may happen when you're not there to sort it all out if need be. Unless they are very young shrimp that you have they will also breed quickly enough once they get started so I would hold off getting any more until you return, and you will have the prospect of getting more to look forward too when you return? Good to hear the red wines are doing well. Simon

Always good to have an update and it seems to be going well now! I hope the ones that died weren't the wine reds? Great to hear the cooler is working - I plan to get one over the winter (ready for next year) if all goes well with the tank a bit longer. We have had a week of 30ish degree heat here (record breaking bank holiday weather for here) but I think my shrimp have been fine as the max temperature was 26 in the tank (that was yesterday) so within the same range as yours have been keeping. The hot spell has now gone thankfully. I think I have about 50% survival of the initial shrimps I got and as the tank has not been co-operating from day 1 I can accept that and may get some new stock soon as it now seems pretty steady? Got that tank to do maintenance/water change tomorrow. Simon

Haven't been posting lately, but have been keep tabs in the forum, my tank is doing well, its been little under a month since I added some shrimp, another 20 CRS and 5 RED Wine to those existing shrimps that is already in the tank, only had 4 dead shrimps. The cooler is doing well, I will take photo in a few days and post.

You have been busy and it's looking great already! What a great setup you have there! The worst bit is having tanks set up without the occupants whilst it cycles. Simon

Has anyone ever tried breeding These two Shrimp together? Would anyone have a Suggestion on what the crossbreed could possibly look like?

Good luck with that. Genetics is unpredictable, especially without knowing the history of the shrimp. You will just have to wait and see what you get.
