I also preferred the previous red wines as they had more red, but the new ones are still very nice and I think you have some male and female so you may get some different types (red ruby etc) and they may just be thinner if they are not so mature which is a good thing as they will likely live and breed longer, all being well? Buying fully grown shrimps is always a bit of a gamble as you don't know how old they are and they only live about 18 months anyway? I have to admit to having lost track of of what you have now with all the new ones and some deaths? Hopefully m tank is nearly ready to start stocking with some shrimp next week! Simon

The previous red wine died, but i'm not quite happy with these, some how they don't look the same, may be I fell in love with the old one, the old one had a body ratio which I liked, these new one are thinness, or may be just need food to beef up it's body

In my experience 75% or more survival is a success with new shrimps so I wouldn't have been upset at your new shrimp survival rate. They will probably start breeding anyway soon if everything is to their requirements so you should soon be more than compensated? Simon

Been a couple of weeks! I have done the shrimp tank and am just zerowater filtering ready to add the new water once remineralised (at least I don't need to even bother dripping as there aren't any occupants). Parameters are good, not 100% sure about nitrates, it came out as between 10 and 25 (??) which I think is better than before but a close call. I have done a dose of nitrateminus and will check again on monday! The plants aren't looking all that good but that is normal when I set up a new tank, they need time to settle down. I thought one of the new ones was completely dead as the leaves were brown, then suddenly remembered I bought one that has brown leaves (who feels stupid now............that would be ME big time)?? The 3 assassin snails are still alive and mobile. I will retest on monday and if the nitrates are below the 25 I will probably invest in 3 blue bolts and 3 blue steel and see how that goes? Hopefully nearly there???? Simon

The were 5 out of the 25 including the pinto that died in the bag, one wine red and the rest were CRS. I did expect some to die, its common with shrimps going into new tank, just how many, even my old tank, there is a history of dead shrimps.

My fingers are crossed that the shrimps that died were at least Crystal reds as you have lots of those, not the fabulous red wines? It happens with new shrimp, I never assume ALL will survive as even if you do everything right you don't know what they have been subjected too prior? I am just going to update my thread about my tank so you can see that in a while if you are interested? Simon

one CRS died yesterday, I have put two babies and a month old one in to the new tank from the old tank and see how it goes.
