Hello, This is my Taiwan proyect. It is a 80 l aquarium. It is divided in 4 boxes. In first one i have blue bolt bees. Next has KK and panda bees. And blue panda Next one: red genetic. Red rubi and red wine and one full red head red bolt (or i think so) And 4th i have male golden (F1 Taiwan) and no dark blue bolt. I AM thinking what can i do with this division. My main goal is get extreme blue bolt. I have gotten very nice blue bolt of lucky way. So, i have my first question: besides select better colours BB, Now can i get then? KK x Golden (f1 Taiwan)?? Kk x blue bolt? Other? My second goal is get blue panda. Again I have 3 blue panda female. Again it was bien in my tank when it haven’t divided. So i don’t know which were the parents. Again, besides select blue panda (now i Only have females) how can i get it? Kk x panda? Panda x blue bolt? Blue bolt x blue panda? Have you got any link with Good info about advanced Taiwan genetic? Any opinion about what to do with 4th box? Thank you very much Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando Tapatalk

A picture of the Betta tank and a couple of the shrimps. The Betta watches them sometimes but never bothers them but they are so well camouflaged I doubt he sees them much. I only got to see them as I put a pea in the tank. Simon

Looks like the same thing Simon uses. Only way to be sure is to test the water it makes.

Have you tested your tap water parameters, you may be one of the few with great water in which case, if it works stick with it! Simon

I agree those 2 look like males, oops, assuming you meant the red ruby (all red with one white splodge on the back) rather that the red wine, not sure about the red bolt? Alsao the right hand panda looks male? You may like this video on this link on how to tell them apart; https://skfaquatics.com/forum/forums/topic/14104-telling-male-from-female-shrimp/ Simon

NO NO NO they are not the same at all, I have tried a few including the Brita and they didn't work. It is called ZEROWATER for a reason, the others only remove parts not all. Brita still had TDS 129, GH 3-4 and KH 1-2, ZEROWATER is ZERO for everything. Don't make the mistake that they are all the same...........far from it! Simon

It is the same as RO water and I think it says this on their USA site, where it comes from.It doesn't have a membrane, it just looks like a Brita filter jug but is more thorough at removing everything! I just use it as others would use RO water and remineralise with usual/standard products. I wouldn't be able to keep Caradina shrimp without it - and I've tried/failed many times........ With my water each filter does around 100L before changing. It makes a lot of sense if you don't have too many or big tanks and is certainly a lot more convenient, assuming you can get it in your country of coarse? If it isn't available in shops it can usually be got through amazon or ebay. You are very lucky if you have managed to keep Cardina shrimps in tapwater, you must have good water? Simon

Whiles you say you use the zerowater, is it just a variation of RO, it only runs the water through a membrain and filters out XXX, all I use is tapwater and zoomed ReptiSafe® Water Conditioner, it's shared between the shrimps and my turtles. So far it's working alright. I like your tank, many shrimps. Just one question, I see a shrimp I'd like local, but not sure what it is, it looks like a Mosura crown with a pinkish, orange white body, the patch is like a orange colour, do you know what shrimp it is.

Great photos and I especially like the blue bolt and red bolt. If you have a spare section you will probably want that for poorer quality or cull shrimps as you seem to want to produce specific colour and quality shrimps. Unfortunately I can't help with the genetics questions (which is the majority) as mine were all put in together and mixed up? Hopefully someone will be able to give you advice on this aspect. If you need any specific shrimp I imagine these people are pretty much the EU 'specialists', though I have never actually used them (though been most tempted)- https://www.rendo-shrimp.de/epages/62701010.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62701010/Categories/Garnelen/Caridina/Taiwan_Bee_Garnelen From the photos they are almost all females? I took a few photos yesterday so am adding them here as there are only a few that were good enough quality/clarity so not enough to start another thread. Most of the shrimps are at the front as I had put some spinach in there! Simon

If the mother shrimp was a Bee then the babies will be Bee also, the 2 different don't interbreed, but if you don't know what the father was the you could have anything from the Bee family. They should colour up in a week from birth to where you will be able to tell what they will end up being. I started with 3 red wine, 2 red ruby, 6 blue bolt and 3 blue steel and from those cross breeding I have mosura red and mosura black - some blue shadow, full reds, red bolt, black taiwan bee from full black to all the variants to the lesser grade striped, as well as ones similar to those I bought to start with, plus some other funky ones. There are some older photos in the gallery but I will try and get some newer photos uploaded, but that is a drama in its self as it is a cd disc camera so I have to take pictures, finalise the disc in the camera, put the disc into the computer, download the photos to the computer then email them to myself, then open the email to get them on my chromebook which is what I use mostly. Is your yellow shrimp a cherry or a king kong? I a undecided whether I like/want the yellow king kongs or not but I am fully stocked anyway really. Counted 111 shrimps yesterday in 30L tank................ I think you made the right decision to keep shrimps instead of tetras as the shrimps are more interesting to watch and your tank is probably a little small for fish to be able to swim much. I don't think my supplier over here sells the madagascar lace plants so they would have been hard to get hold of, but as you say they grow fairly big and quickly and I am definitely one for low maintenance plants. I'm not very sure I would be able to sleep with all those creatures in my bedroom, I had a hamster when I was a child and that drove me nuts then, keep chewing the bars at night??? And the fish tanks aren't silent either, except the one with the Betta, but thats because they like low flow! Simon

Try this, Press and hold both up and down arrows simultaneously for 10 seconds. Stop temp, in a chiller, needs to be lower than the start temp. For example,... Start when water temp is 26degC. Stop when water temp is 23degC.

You have to know if the chiller supports both c/f, I know some supports either one or both, if you can open the chiller and post the model number of the temperature unit, I can check, but either way, the instruction manual should help you out even if it's in Chinese, I know as I also have these Chinese made chiller. Please post link of the seller, so I know which one you have.

Thanks, I have the tank in my room, and it's a small room, so I can't have a large tank, I also have two Cuora Trifasicata turtle(endangered species) and a chinchilla, also in my room. Actually most of the equipment was before I got into shrimps keeping back in November, my intention was a small tetra fish tank, then somehow, a friend of mine talk and talk about shrimps, and got me in to it. The UV is to get rid of majority of the algae, as a small tank, algae is a problem, the lace plant is one of those I really like, but on the market, there are many variation, but sold a one. I have one that reaches about 12 inches at the back, and the front one that spreads outwards and with a much wider and larger leave, I had one before that the leaves grow 16 inches long, but too big for my tank, so I gave it away. Many plant will grow better with Co2, some will need co2, especially red leave, and the color does come out better. I only have 8 shrimps now but not including the shrimplets, one red, one yellow, one bee, three blue bolts, one wild, and one unknown it's has a solid black body and glossy finish. once I get hold of some new soil, the black premium I will sort the tank out, at present, the soil is out of stock in Hong Kong, just waiting for delivery. Just like to add, the shrimplets are about 2mm long now, they started to appear just these few days, and my bee was the only shrimp to carry berries, just hope it's babies bee, and not neo's.
