Well it all depends how pedantic you want to be with your shrimp to. For instance some people are of the opinion that you shouldnt add another persons tank water due to the risk of disease yadda yadda yadda. I always added their tank water out of bag straight into my breeder box as it was my belief that if there was disease then it would build the resistance in my shrimp anyway. Same could be said with peoples water change methods lol, I had a 4ft tank and i would pour 15 litres straight into the tank never had a death in actual fact i always had a crap load of shrimplets lol :) I never saw the glass shrimper net when i had them but definitely sounds like a good alternative :)

That Betta would love a bigger tank. They can be pretty miserable in real small areas. I think the way most pet stores keep them, in a cup, is really inhumane. Give him the biggest size that is practical for you. Add a few plants if you can.

I used to net mine straight out with nil issues never had one drop eggs either. Breed them tough :P I never liked drip acclimating in a bucket or anythign i always preferred the breeder box method and controlling the flow

Wow that looks great ! I love the fact that you've chosen to go with native shrimp! Consider getting some moss for your tank as shrimp really love the stuff. [emoji173][emoji111][emoji445] will

It does seem that all Yellow KK are hybrids. I am as sure as I can be that my Yellow Tangerine are not hybrids but as I don't know who bred the original shrimp there is always the possibility that a stray gene may have gotten in the mix . It just seems strange that it has taken such a long time to show up. One of the many shrimp mysteries in our hobby I guess. It is getting harder and harder to know whether a line is in fact pure regardless of the type of shrimp. I have had tanks sit empty for several weeks while recycling after substrate topup. All shrimp were removed, no new plants or moss added and yet after 2-3 weeks tiny shrimp appeared even after horrendous ammonia readings. I can only assume a female dropped her eggs while I was catching the last few shrimp and the eggs hatched despite the water conditions. I've dumped new subtrate into the water, added cold straight RO water into the tanks added salty shrimp directly to the tanks- thinking they were empty of course, and still found baby shrimp surviving in those tanks. This has happened several times over the years so I guess a stray shrimp is always a possibility when moving shrimp around for what ever reason.

For those who are interested... I ended up buying a Aqua One Betta Villa Trio yesterday, the LFS only had that and the Betta Haven, felt the Haven was too small so went with the Trio, got it home and put it together and realised the sections weren't that much larger either, have now put the Betta in a separate tank and have pulled out the dividers in the Trio, will remove the silicon from the tank later today so that it's all one tank which would be more ideal so more room for the Betta to move around, can't say I'm a fan of these small Betta tanks, fish need room to swim, not look miserable and uninterested.
