Bit of an update as it has been almost a month. All of the shrimp are doing well in a Betta tank we had spare. I have been slowly bringing the TDS down so they can be introduced to the pond by adding some rain water every few days. At about 180ppm now but the pond has gone down to 70ppm so i still have a bit to go. Got some photo's this morning of these big eyed shrimp. Colour is a bit off as the water is tanin soaked but i love the gold fleck in these.

One of the bigger shrimp came to the front, and I decided to try to nab a picture of it with my good camera. This one is out almost all the time and really big, but usually stays in the java moss patch. I think it's female? (looks like it has a saddle, but I'm not really sure...). It has a little belt around its middle, I'm not sure if there's something wrong with the front carapace, or if it's just a clear section or what...

I can help you out with that! LOL. In all seriousness, I could trade you 2 or 3 smaller java ferns (15-20cm x 20-25 cm tall) for one or 2 of your bigger ones if you really wanted. I've also got spare crypts that may fit better size-wise.

Yep As @jc12 stats mine ended up costing $42.00 each delivered to Victoria $38.00 ea if I drove up to Brisbane and picked them up, yeh I took the mailing option.

You might need a permit other than a fishing permit, though I can't expand on this. Ohio seems to have permits for possessing/buying/selling native fish/crustaceans/mollusks which is completely separate from a fishing permit. (It's not clear to me if this permit is needed just want to keep and admire native animals, the code seems to be aimed at large scale aquaculture, but has bits in it that make it seem like it covers hobbyists as well) I dunno how whichever part of Canada you're in does things, but it's probably worth a call to your fish/wildlife division to find out the specifics.

The filter cost around $38 each landed. I sent 6 filters via Auspost to Victoria for around $28. It would cost less to ship 1 filter... say $15 for a 3kg express post bag. So group buy is quite a lot cheaper. The other buyers either picked up from me locally in Brisbane or I delivered them. @Disciple had international hand carried courier all the way to Singapore. Haha.

The screen might work but you'll need a lot of very fine screen. I had considered using some plexiglass or glass covering most of the holes toward the bottom to prevent shrimplets from passing when they're really really small still. Once they get past a certain size, they'd be fine. I ended up not going with that, trashed the idea and kept the 10 unseparated. Instead I'm gonna build a rack of 3x (or 4x) 20Ls split into 3 with the HMFs, as mentioned above. They sit inside a 10g just under the rim, so it can work with any hood really.
