I previously lost my zebs to what I think was a red cyanobacteria outbreak that I let go unchecked. For completeness of this thread I'll repost from a response I made in Fishmosy's thread. I can confirm this now. since losing the zebs the tank has sat idle and the biofilm in the tank went very red and manky and obviously red cyanobacteria (likely toxic to the shrimp). Loads of small bristle worms moving around in the slime. So I've dosed with Chemiclean and will re-set the tank for some other purpose. I have also noticed clearer glass on several tanks since switching to pure rainwater over the last two months (no mixing with tap). The mixing with tap is too inconsistent. When the flow rate is very low, the rainwater pump doesn't kick in so its possible my header tank fills mostly with tap, then when I'm doing water changes and using more water the pump fills it mostly with rainwater. Far too inconsistent. For my next run at the zebs (which may be very soon) I'll make sure I use rainwater only.

Beautifully sharp shots there @fishmosy. What is the "new food"?

This one above is a mature female (right). The others are all normal DAS. There is a little juvi "platinum" just behind the tail of the big one exiting stage right. Pic of the juvi below with normal coloured I had the white ones separated but needed the tank back so for now they are all in together but when I give away or sell shrimp I make sure I keep the white ones. :P

Hi @uslanja, thanks. I am pretty wrapt they are doing this well. Will just keep them stable with small occasional feeds and see how they travel. They were caught from local waterways here in Australia, though not by me, I am that clumsy I would end up swimming down the river. But thankfully an experienced shrimp hunter offered me some, so had to say yes!! Will try and keep the pics and vids coming !!

Hi newbreed! Gorgeous shrimp, and so small when viewed next to the pond snails. Being "native shrimp", does that mean that they are wild caught? Did you catch them yourself? Seeing three berried girls and reading that they are difficult to keep, let alone breed, makes your tank quite the accomplishment! Keep the pictures and videos coming; living vicariously through your tank!

@vshrimp looks very promising. Keep us updated with pics of these little fellas as they get older. They should colour up a bit when they get older.

Was checking out the pond snails, which are coping well! And got another surprise! I love these shrimp!! So there were two berried girls up until now. Then found another very different one today. I don't know if the eggs are just freshly developed, or if some colour genes are at play, but these eggs are vibrant!! Enjoy!!
