It's just some fungus, and is harmless. It's quite normal for driftwood to get that. It should disappear by itself, but you can remove it manually if you cannot wait. boiling water and brush it off.

Tank is still running well, added some crypts, a melon sword and some foxtail. I have a melting water poppy, my Monte Carlo carpet doesn't seem to grow. I believe my cheap ebay lamps are to blame, I want to add grow lamps over the tank for a few hours a day while I'm at work to help the plants flourish. Tank wise, I want to redo the bottom part, do a better, easier to maintain, sump out of glass and acrylic, and redo the aquaponics setup so it's not as soaked as it is now, my basil is not liking the flood. And last but not least, the Cherries. Now sole inhabitants of the Coffin, they are happy, it's a real orgy in there. Shrimplets everywhere, just look at an empty space in the tank and you'll spot a baby or 10 blending with the substrate. Adults are saddled and berried. Here's a small photo dump. not in any order... I also setup my 3ft outside, it's now my cull tank, with White Clouds, Guppies and my Gouramis & Tetras. I reserve my Hex for the most wanted, OEBT. I want them, and now I'm ready for them.

I use easy life ferts and easy life carbo and just add directly to the tank never had an issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks jayc that's an exciting thought! I've been doing 1 x 50% water change once a week but the first 2 or 3 weeks was twice a week water change. I've also used pre cycled filter media in the tank from day 1 hoping to speed up the cycling but I think it's crashed or re started... Week 2-3 results were looking as if it skipped a stage and was cycling fast. I'll go to the aquarium where I purchased the substrate from today and ask them the question I think. I also use prime as a declorinator if that helps Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk Cheers Mr F - I did boil the driftwood before placing it in the tank twice over hoping that would help and reduce the tannins so I don't have a brown tank! Also the fish seem to be doing ok... I expected and did have a couple deaths in week 1 or so and they have been steady for the last 3 or 4 weeks... Now I've got the idea of moving the cardinals out of the tank, replacing the gravel, placing them in the established tank and doing a fish less cycle / restart on the nano tank... hmmm

Especially possible if you are in Melbourne. And with all the rain lately. If your tank isn't cycled properly, pH will continue to drop as part of the natural cycling process. When was your last water change? I see you have fish in there already. So you can't do a massive water change. Try a 20% water change at least once a week with your tap water and dechlorinator.

It could be the large piece of driftwood. Did you soak it or boil it before adding it to the tank? You could try slowly raising the KH to 4ish. It will bring and keep the pH up. And yes, TDS of 57 is possible. Mine is... 98 ppm right now and I'm on a well, so it's generally harder.

Custom built Komoda - had to wait 3 months for it be built and shipped 1500x600x600 15mm Opticlear Low iron glass Beveled edges to all sides Even came with dark grey foam mat. Silicone is ludicrously clean, I've not actually seen anything this neat in Cade, Ada or Fire. They really went above and beyond for this tank as a test run. Perhaps with enough demand/interest they may make more this size. just look at it! https://vimeo.com/163976181 couldn't resist shining some light into the cage Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
