Because Japan decided on ecological conservation. And so stopped importing Seiryu many years ago. Anything that claims to be Seiryu now is most certainly Yingshi ( not Ying). Yingshi is a limestone with calcite. But Seiryu has a higher quartzite content, and Quartz is more stable. Ryuoh stone is very similar to Seiryu. You might have better chances getting Ryuoh, and they are a lot more stable compared to Yingshi.

I bought this Sudo Slim shrimp net as I was not happy with my current netting options. Found an unexpected awesome use for it: those annoying tiny snails on the walls of your aquarium glass? Because this net is so flexible and the wire rim where the edge meets the net is so thin, it is extremely easy to just scrape all of the snails with one swoop into the net. Highly recommended. Good quality netting material. It is of such a good weave that I catch seed-shrimp with it in my smaller tank. Only drawback: short handle, but one could argue that it gives you very good control of the net. Very good at shrimp catching too as there is no escape once the net is flush against the glass. My favourite net all- round. I will rate this net ????/5 shrimp tails

+1 for breeding natives. I don't think we do that enough in the hooby.

I was thinking they could be used for something like the shrimp equivalent of whitebait. I don't see why if you can refrain from using medications and other nasties in the water why it shouldn't be possible for humans to consume them. They probably wouldn't taste that bad either. Peeling them would be a pain, though! Definitely, I know all about what that can do. And I think those small green specks in there are little pieces of subwassertang. That is a good idea! 50c seems more than decent, too. Taking them out every week or so and selecting the best to go back in would also slow down the time it would take for them to deteriorate in quality. This is actually a really good idea that never actually crossed my mind! I was also thinking of what I'll be breeding in there now. I'm not too keen to breed cherries again as it won't be too smart to keep a shrimp that will continuously depreciate in value the longer their in there, eventually becoming worthless to me. I was wanting something that will not have to be selectively bred and kept under surveillance to keep from lessening in value and I was leaning towards riffles, but is there anything else? Preferably something that can tolerate the cold.

Hey mate, Great tank, and I really enjoyed the video. There's something so mesmerizing about aquariums.. What was the music? - I think the second song was a piano cover of a nirvana song? Shep

this is my setup. The tank is still running and the shrimp are breeding I lost interest in line breeding them as I didn't have the space at the time. the current stock is a pretty poor base to work from so I'll be shutting the tank down soon to pursue some other projects. I found they seemed happiest when TDS was high (roughly 200), temperature seemed to be unimportant, including very high temps approaching high twenties and low thirties.

Just try and ensure they don't sell your culls as hobby shrimp instead of feeder shrimp as it will do the hobby a disservice by pushing lower quality shrimp out there. Is that a slight green tinge on some of them or just the lighting?

So im always watching the shrimp and record what they get up to, and i noticed this one eating and pulling direct from the rock with its mouth? i thought at first maybe a bad moult or lost its claws/arms but they get up and show the arms and then continue eating without its arms. Thought id share.
