I recently acquired a couple of 3D moss ledges from @newbreed Aquatics (https://newbreedaquatics.com.au/planted-tanks/aquascaping-tools) with the thought of trialing them and organising my moss collection neatly. When I received them, I was impressed with the quality of the mesh and didn't want to use them for the 'common' moss like java, peacock, flame, etc. so I kept them aside and told myself to look for a 'worthy' moss for it when I get a chance. Fast forward to this week, I was fortunate enough to be offered some rare cameroon moss from a generous SKF member. That's right... you can see where this is leading to. The mesh is made of a thick plastic material and feels really sturdy, unlike typical stainless steel mesh which is flimsy and bends easily. This makes holding and working with it easy and comfortable, especially with my big clumsy fingers. The mesh can be detached from the suction cup by twisting it 90 degrees and pulling it out. This means the suction cup could be left on the glass if you want to only remove the mesh for trimming/propagating the moss. Perhaps this would prolong the lifespan of the suction cup. Only time will tell. The edge of the mesh has notches which makes tying the mesh extremely easy and neat. I really like it. I generally do not trust suction cups... e.g. heater suction cups, metacube suction cups, etc. and this is no exception. While the suction cup is of a typical size (wish it is larger), it is soft, supple and feels quality, unlike some hard rubbery suction cups that come with cheap heaters. The suction cup stuck on to the glass without any issue, and time will tell if it will hold up well. I am reserving my verdict for the suction cup at this stage. Overall, I am quite pleased with this moss ledge, especially how easy it is to hold, work with it, and tie it guided by those notches. Aesthetically, I would have preferred a white or transparent suction cup. A suggestion perhaps is to sell replacement suction cups separately should they are required to be replaced, especially since the suction cup is designed to fit the rectangular groove of the mesh. A well thought out product, quality made and well priced.

This is why I love racks. Now instead of seeking permission for another tank, I say I need another rack. Saves ten arguments in one go!! Lol

Asking forgiveness is easier than asking permission... just saying. ?

Great write up @jc12 I look forward to your feedback regarding the suction caps, I will enquire with supplier for spares, a great idea. Instead of a white suction cap, I have on order a black version. I think aesthetically they should work for many peoples tanks. @KeenShrimp These are from a different supplier to Elevate shrimp, but yes a very similar piece with different refinements. Other items on their way include a 10x5 double ledge (black and white) and vertical moss wall 10x5cm (black and white). The picture below is of the oval version, I have opted for a rectangular unit instead. Hopefully on hand in a couple of weeks time. ? Thanks again jc! Look forward to seeing that Cameroon moss growing lush!!!

Just thought I would write up my journey with my CRS. I bought these guys July last year (from Fishmosy) and had them in with my TB for seven months without any berries, super frustrating. After a reset on one of my three foot tanks, I moved the CRS in there by their lonesome and the magic started to happen. The quality of these isn't the best but also not the worst. I recently was very lucky to be a recipient of some 'culls' from Gbang. With these boys in the mix I am expecting to see the quality of offspring increase dramatically over the next few generations. The tank they are in has benibachi soil, eheim 2213, chiller, two sponge filters and two Mini Oxydators. I have been adding mineral powder, Bee Max, Genchem beta-G as required. And have just started small additions of Blackwater extract with water changes. I noticed a drop off in breeding a few months ago and realised I had stopped adding IAL. Once these went back in, the juvie survival rate improved, I am of the belief this is a great source of micro bacteria for the tank and an awesome food source for the littlest ones. It has been running with an Aquamedic Twin T5 light for the last five months. Lots of plant growth and biofilm on the back panel, usually see a gang of little shrimp grazing there in the mornings. Unfortunately, some of the plants are being infested with BBA, but I will trim in a couple of weeks to remove this. I have allowed the plants to grow like mad and the CRS seem to really enjoy their forest. I feed a mixture of Benibachi Kale, Beni Ambitious, Boss Snow, Boss Crack and occasionally some frozen Kale (prepared as in Bluebolts thread). For baby feeds I have followed Squiggs example and used powdered Spirulina, Barley Powder, powdered bee pollen, mixed with water and syringed to different corners of the tank. Now have also used Borneo Wild Bebi and the little ones loved that too!

Hey guys and girls just wanted to show my setup. Firstly i want to say a massive thanks to Baz (disciple) for holding onto this tank for me so i could sort myself out. The setup didnt come with a stand so i started with this Then after a bit of reinforcing, some 12mm ply for the shelf, fronts and sides, a tin of stain i was ready to pickup the tank. Now coz the tank was running and had shrimp in that were coming with it i was crapping myself about getting them here alive and well anyhoo i got it here along with 90% of the water and started to setup Then once all shrimp mosses and driftwood were in place i added the light and panels and this is the end result So all in all im absolutely stoked with how it came up and the move was much easier than i thought ( although i pondered how i was gonna do it for weeks lol) so stay tuned and over the next week or so I'll show you guys each division and whats in there cheers for taking the time to have a look

Very excited tomorrow I'll be picking up some mid grade rcs (low fire reds) grabbing 20 for my other tank I've had cycling for approx 3 weeks now. Just done water change as I havnt done one since first week in on the cycle. 50% out and replaced with Ro. No nitrites or ammonia, no nitrates And ph of 6.4. This is my second N last tank I have so I'll have to convince my wife that I'll need 2 more tanks now lol. My plan for this tank is to cull a lot and put the culls in with my fish and to maintain a decent quality red hopefully one day they will move up to high grade fire reds. On another note can someone tell me why my max photo size limit is only 0.03mb now ?

Hey Will Thanks heaps for your input. the reason I'm not using an air driven filter is just because I didn't want anything to bulky in the tank and I like the way I can add media etc. and the sound of the bubbles will probably keep me up as the tank is a few metres from my bed.

Wow been a long time since i read this topic lol, gone from me discussing buying some select CRS to me having none what so ever :) Sorry to hear your colony collapsed mate are you trying to re establish it or moved on to something else? I still need to buy a Oxydator lol
  10. Disciple
They shall remain nameless in my tank. You can call them whatever you like when they are in your tank. If they disappear a week later I will say I told you so! haha

Iv not had a great run with the tank unfortunately i got a bacterial infection and then got cRamped back syndrome ( check the shrimp diseases and diagnosis sticky for a pic of my actual shrimp) so what did survive the bacterial infection quite a few got culled due to cramped backs it was bloody devastating. Iv been meaning to do a full update to show the changes iv done to the tank so I'll get onto that over the next few days. I managed to keep some alive and im slowly rebuilding my colonies. The CRS are going well now though lots of babies that are almost at juvie size.

@Discipleto buy mine from overseas when he was over there. They are very easy to detach and not overly strong of a magnet i think but enough to hold them on. The only thing i dont like with them is the plain ceramic balls they use for filter media so i just swapped them out for seachem matrix and put that in instead. Do i think its worth the extra value, yes if you are running a sponge only filtration setup. I think having your chosen filter media in the bottom is a big added bonus especially if you have a batter operated pump running in times of a black out. Hope that helps with your decision @jc12. I have another 3 in a both lol. Got lucky and got the ones i brought from Disciple and won the 3rd in comp on here :) The only reason i have the plain filter in the tank is for it to establish bacteria on it so that it can go into my daughters kmart tank along with the fighting fish. Didnt want to rip the established one out for him to suffer. Thats why his stillchillin in the tank lol, good ol Jack The sponges on the biospon to you would be able to put back on with your eyes closed their that simple. And the amount of crap they clean from the water i was surprised. When i pulled my tank down it took me a good 10 minutes to clean them out prior to packing

The black one looks really good especially since most of my tanks have a black background! I am very very keen on the vertical moss wall. I imagine weeping moss on it would look really nice! Can't wait! @newbreed, please let us know when these gets here. Thank you. ☺️

Great write up! I definitely think that the black looks better. I like the look of how the actual mesh part connects to the suction cap so its not just gonna fall off. Great to see simple things progress for the better

Hi @jc12, This is the ElevateShrimp 2.0 model. They look awesome, and so does your moss. I am surprised that they changed the suction cups on this model. The first model does not have the notches on the side, but it has awesome suction cups that are oversized and incredibly strong. Looking forward to see how they work for you???

Great article @OzShrimp the less info you release until a trust is established is best, however some people you trade with even for a long time the trust never eventuates so keep info to a minimum. some points in ( ): "Invest in good quality CCTV in your home covering the points of entry / Shrimp room. Dont skimp as poor quality images are useless to the Police in identifying the culprit. (Better quality systems allow you to pan and zoom in so you can watch your shrimp on the TV. An added bonus for the price) * If you have any concerns arrange pick up in a public place and arrive early and wait away from your vehicle. Some people can obtain your details from your roads and traffic authority through your number plate if they try hard enough. (I always deliver and pick up parking further down the street. Currently I have no need to post or request delivery for equipment or livestock.)

Hey guys i thought i would show you exactly how the tank is now running and the equipment used so from the top I've got the long 16/22 mm overflow strainers Which of course leads us to the plumbing Now we are at the sump which starts with coarse filter foam Then a fine filter foam Then comes the media which consists of 5 large bakki rods (about 400-450 long) and 6 smaller pieces of bakki rod (ranging from 100-180mm), approx 3L matrix, approx 2L of ceramic bio rings and 2 other bags of an unknown media that looks like river stones almost (if anyone can id it from that description that would be great). Then we get to the divider which has more of the coarse filter wool then its into my dodgy bros inc boss bio media tumbler sectionhttps://vimeo.com/147999136which seems to be working really well as i threw a handfull of new stuff in and there is definitely a brown tinge to the original lot From there iv got a 1500lph pump pushing the water through the uv filter ( no pic as i need to clean it up back there haha) then into the beast my hailea 300 Actually that reminds me i need to do an appreciation post for John and Chelsea at tech den coz John recieved email after email with me stressing on getting this thing over to the west side safely and im pretty sure i scared the hell out of Chelsea about the delivery being signed for in bunnury which is 140 odd kms from me haha but anyhow back on topic now. Then its off to the spray bar that runs the length of the tank so thats the main system then on top of that i have added a biospon and 2 other large double sponges ( i need to get 1 more) and last but not least is the cheapest out of everything the black background, but the difference between having a light coloured wall as a background and the black is huge I will add some more photos soon and in the next few weeks I will show yous how the different sections are going. If you can see something that could be tweeked to make this a better setup let me know Cheers guys thanks for reading

I have made up a mix and just need to get some agar but will definately let you know how it goes. Should be getting the agar today if I can find it! The mix I am using will be quite different and my main ingredient is spirulina- the shrimp like this particular mix that I made but it is messy hence wanting it to be in wafer form like yours. Down side- I didn't take note of what I put in it I just used what I have , grind it up and feed so each mix will be nutritious but different. Perhaps time to write down recipe from now on
