I've used poster edging from Kmart with fine SS mesh on a smaller tank before.

I use the Pisces NZ iron sand and haven't had any issues with bloody marry, DAS, Typus and Tang tiger

I just forgot I haven't said thanks for the prizes yet, so thanks @newbreed! Everything got here undamaged and I can't wait to put everything to good use. Thanks again!

I use iron sand but find it looks more dark grey than black. The proper shrimp soils are hard to go past if you want something that is truely black.

2 band? It looks like a nice deep red although could be due to dark exposure of pic. I love the original candy cane stripe pattern though!

Given the tapered tail spines and the presence of 'something' behind the eyes in these photos I'm going to stick with Paratya.

Yeah I have a LFS that used to be a SKF sponsor about 15 mins away. They put me onto SKF back in the day when I was looking for shrimp. haha

Hi Shrimpelina, Here in Canberra the shops will only stock the basics (highly processed shrimp food, nano tanks and soil). Some of the online suppliers like our sponsors have dropped their postage costs and prices a lot, so much so that I am happy to wait a day or two for any product now compared to the high overhead costs of running an actual shop that reflects it in the pricing. Unless you become a dealer out of your garage of course...here in my city the hobby is so niche that people ask if you sell by the kilogram when you say you have dwarf shrimp...?
