Today we went for a little excursion to a place called The Narrows near Mt Larcom, along the way we crossed quite a few dry creeks and culvets but saw 3 creeks still with water and plant life (from the car we could also see fish movement) which I intended to check out more fully on our way back from the actual Narrows, which is a sheltered tidal area that is s jumble of creek enterences, mudflats and mangroves. On the way to the Narrows This creek was actually tidal and I would say quite brackish since there where a few mangroves growing on the sides of the banks. In the above creek I did see some little Pacific Blue Eyes but I was not eager to go wading about in the water because it was quite deep and impossible to see the floor of the creek, remember this is Croc country and we where basically in the middle of no where. Also it was thick with sandflies, as was the boat ramp at the Narrows. This other creek was much more promising we had seen fish movement when we crossed it earlier, there was lots of water skaters skittering across the surface and quite a few aquatic plants. And thankfully no sandflies. Once we approached the water it was plain to see the water was teeming with Pacific Blue Eyes, Flyspecked Hardyheads, Some type of Rainbow (more on this later), shrimp and even gudgeons Some of the Glass shrimp turned "stressed blue" which is a shame they wont keep such pretty colouring. One of the shrimp has white muscle so I will dispose of it carefully to prevent its spread. The solitary rainbow fish I managed to catch I have the faintest hope it could be a Rhad, its eye is huge but I have not so far been able to get a good photo of its fins. I know its most likely another Dawson/ Fitzroy Rainbow but I can always live in hope.

Summary: Improve the way in which we can view product reviews done by members Description: To implement a grid like view of product reviews, similar to what we see on online stores with star ratings to make it easier to go through them, I plan on using the SKF Articles to achieve this and have promoted a few of the reviews but still need to work out how to display in a grid with star ratings. http://shrimpkeepersforum.com/forum/articles/product-reviews/ All the reviews in the articles are linked to their posts in the review forum Current view to be replaced: View full item

just wanted to share how much Taitibees can change in very short times and why culling too young is not always a good thing. This little light blue speck went to full dark blue then to this in 6 weeks. Not sure what it will end up like. There are 3 the same just a little difference in depth of blue. These are from the Blue Taitibee x with a Tiger but I'm not sure if it was a blue or a blonde tiger. Last picture is mum.

Got a piece of driftwood with anubias attached this morning and inside had some extras including flame moss on driftwood, fern i cant remember the name and some pennywort. have put them in with the beta. Plan is tomorrow I get my new tank and then next weekend all of this will come and go into the new tank and my daughters rainbow gravel will go in lol. I figure the longer i leave the filter in with the betta the more it will be cycled so still not looking to add shrimp for maybe another 3 weeks to be on the safe side.

I've found that small enndlers can be successfully sexed by looking for colour on the body. Females with body colouration are very rare. I have done this without ever having any issues. As @ineke says, some female endlers (just like some female guppies) have tail colouration (female Black Bars come to mind) so sexing from tail colouration alone is definitely not a reliable way to sex these particular fish. One of my female Black Bars, showing that tail colouration in endlers is possible. Also, notice how the colour is contained to the tail and dorsal fin with no colour on the body.

Dragon Scale or Ohko stones are said to be inert due to it's hardened clay properties. So it's a better choice for a shrimp tank. But as with any stone, always test it in a bucket of water to make sure the pH, GH, KH and TDS do not rise before committing them in your tank.

ADA Dragon Stone? A quick search says it's OK. Quick way to confirm is dip in some vinegar. If it fizzes, it's bad news. If it doesn't fizz, you're good to go ?

I just had to Google to find out what it was made of. I should have gone straight to @newbreed 's website as he is the only one listing it. It is PVC : https://newbreedaquatics.com.au/lowkeys-baby-bee-shelter-flower-single-preorder-.html

@KeenShrimp, I don't actually know what those Lowkeys shrimplet shelters are made of. It's probably a trade secret. They are designed specifically for little shrimplets to graze in and hide in. The smaller nooks and crannies allow them to fit in there while keeping the bigger shrimps out. Maybe @jc12 might have a better idea what they are made of, now that he has them to play with.

I still think these shelters look like nudibranch eggs. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. jc12
Thank you @newbreed for the prizes. They arrived yesterday. Super happy and the shrimp shelters are already in tank. Now let's see when the shrimplets would start calling it home. I'll post some pictures up when I get a chance. Hope I get some time this weekend to 'play' with my new toys. :) Thank you @Disciple again for organising the comp. Liking this thread for the creative daily 'picks' from everyone. :)
