I bought this immediately when I came across it as it looked like a genuinely cool and functional item: It is a measuring spoon scale that can measure up to 30 grams in 0.1 gram increments. Highlights: - it is lightweight - you can use it as a scoop direclty What failed to impress me: - the scale only shows one decimal: so you can not measure 0.150 grams, just 0.1 or 0.2 grams. This is not acceptable for chemicals/powders that need to be measured for quantities of water used during normal water changes for large or small tanks. - A scale is meant to sit on a solid surface for measuring accuracy. Because this is a spoon being held, the weight of the powder fluctuates wildly if the spoon moves up or down and then you have to hold it absolutely still until the scale has stabilised. - the batteries leaked all over the packaging and scale when I opened it after purchase ( I would like to clarify that it might have been unsold for a while, so it might be a battery problem, not a total product problem). - when switching off the spoon scale, you have to hold the button in for a very long time compared to TDS pens or pH pens etc. it gets annoying when doing serious amounts of changes in a day. So, a fancy, expensive spoon that can estimate the weight of powders for baking or other kitchen use or rough estimations in measuring. For the level of accuracy I expect for this kind of hobby, a definite thumbs down. A small pocket jewellery scale is half the price and measures up to three decimal points. Save your money. This Seachem Digital Spoon scale gets ?/5 Shrimp tails. The one was awarded for the cool idea of having a spoon scale.

Hi @anthonyd the ingredients in my original post were consistent information from direct sellers of the product. It does not mention the viper powder at all. Ingredients: Lactic acid bacteria, crustaceans calcium, reduced maltose, mulberry powder, yeast

@Santa all you need to do is boil them for a couple of minutes, let it cool and drop straight into the tank. If anyone is interested, there have been lots of papers and research on the antibacterial properties of guava leaves. Just google "guava leaves antibacterial" and you have a huge choice of reading material.

I sold almost all my mischlings and recently added some pure TBs, and a WR has given me some babies. The PRL, CRS, TB (with pinto genes), black cherries and RCS are all breeding. Sadly, my YCS.have been disappointing with no breeding activity. :( Discus have been breeding and I am busy growing out 100+ fry ranging from 2 weeks to 2 months old. A neon blue ram and a blue ram (2nd generation that I bred) are currently herding fry in my community 4x2x2 tank. Chances are the fry would be food for the other fish. I might breed them again if I can find time. A new baby has taken priority so between changing nappies, breeding discus, hatching BBS, feeding fry and water changes, I have not spent much time playing with my shrimps. Plan is to set up a 4ft 3 tier rack for growing out discus in the garage close to a drain to make water changes easier and quicker. Perhaps I might set up a dedicated breeding tank for the rams if I find some spare time. I'll try to add some photos when I get a chance.

Nice sulawesi shrimp. But what you call striata are spinata, there is not such thing as the striata spinata, the striata is a totally different type of sulawesi shrimp, the striata have red and white stripes running the entire length of its body...

Thanks JayC, I have heavily moss planted tanks and find that they use very large amounts of Mg, so I do extremely slow up-titration so weekly to get the ratio normalised again. Glad the Ca:Mg 4:1 ratio is universal.
