Custom built Komoda - had to wait 3 months for it be built and shipped 1500x600x600 15mm Opticlear Low iron glass Beveled edges to all sides Even came with dark grey foam mat. Silicone is ludicrously clean, I've not actually seen anything this neat in Cade, Ada or Fire. They really went above and beyond for this tank as a test run. Perhaps with enough demand/interest they may make more this size. just look at it! https://vimeo.com/163976181 couldn't resist shining some light into the cage Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I bought this Sudo Slim shrimp net as I was not happy with my current netting options. Found an unexpected awesome use for it: those annoying tiny snails on the walls of your aquarium glass? Because this net is so flexible and the wire rim where the edge meets the net is so thin, it is extremely easy to just scrape all of the snails with one swoop into the net. Highly recommended. Good quality netting material. It is of such a good weave that I catch seed-shrimp with it in my smaller tank. Only drawback: short handle, but one could argue that it gives you very good control of the net. Very good at shrimp catching too as there is no escape once the net is flush against the glass. My favourite net all- round. I will rate this net ????/5 shrimp tails

My shrimp like black worms more than blood worm or tubifex, but the annoying thing is that the dried worms float. I have recently bought Australian Black worm Sinking Pellets. I use this as a meaty protein supplement and have rated it as such. It is not a complete holistic shrimp food and it isn't marketed as such either. Highlights: sinks immediately relatively unadulterated product shrimp love them and feed on it immediately ( I am assuming that they love the taste as they eat at it for a while and they do not lose interest or toss it away). Shrimp taste- test panel: Tiger, CRS, TB, Natives, various Neos. the pellets are the perfect size for shrimp: a young adult shrimp is capable of holding a pellet. Low wastage. it is extremely affordable I cannot fault this product at all. Rating as a protein/meaty supplement: ?????/5 Shrimp Tails View full article

G'day SKFer's, We haven't had a competition in ages, so I was thinking of doing something. What do you guys want as prizes? So I can chase sponsors or shrimps. I also want to do a special competition for paid subscribers with extra cool stuff to say thanks for financial support. Also I was thinking of raffles and treasure hunts.

The temperature in New Cal start to cool down. Here are sound critters found in a creek of the New Cal west coast. This one is just 5mm long :

Hi all! Very nice pics Damien! How was the water flow in the creek you got them in? Was it deep? Were they on the banks of the creek or in the middle where water flows faster (I presume)? Just trying to know which species can be found in different conditions around here. :) Here are some of mine, I'm guessing they are Paratyas? Not sure about that, they do look similar to Paratya Australiensis to me, and after trying to ID them with the help of our local book, I'm not sure, my biggest "Paratya" female (berried since last week) is exactly 30mm long, and the book mentions individuals up to 27mm, not more. Most of them come from a creek near Mt. Mou, I also have some Caridinas in there, but they were harder to take pics of. The red one is my pride (and she's berried too - yay!), she comes from a small creek just outside Nouméa, she was caught with a couple other reddish females (not as much as her), a couple quite colored red males and an interesting blue male. There were also some "tiger" patterns in some of the other shrimp caught that day, mainly yellow stripes on a blue/dark body, I'll try to get new pics when they possible. These pics are a couple weeks old, they were taken with a friend's camera and I just got them a couple days earlier. First, the "Big Momma" as we call her: Here she is flirting with a male on the driftwood, no wonder she's berried now :) The flirting male went to tell his buddy about it: And finally, the berried red Caridina (she shows the same tiger stripes pattern as the others mentioned above in my post): I really want to isolate the red individuals but I first need to find and cycle a decent tank for them. I'd also like to isolate the "tiger" phenotype but that means another tank, as you all know... :) Cheers everyone, have a nice day!

At the moment there will be shrimp from my personal collection. I am in chats with sponsors to see what they can provide so stay tuned.

If I have another tank handy, I usually take some substrate or filter media to help with the fishless cycle. When the parameters seem about right, I usually chuck in a couple cull grade male cherries. <- don't want them breeding in the new tank.

The way I cycled my last tank was to clean the canister filter I had running already. I filled up the tank with treated 50% tap water &50 RO water after adding my soil and additives. I kept the heater at 28 degrees with no lights and tried to keep the ph at 7 until the nitrates peaked. I did a 80% water change with RO water and turned down the heater. I also put my plants and mosses at this point. I kept it running another week checked that the Ammonia nitrites are 0 and nitrates were under 10 then added some culls. Since they were fine after about a week I started putting in the other shrimp.
