One of my tanks has been producing some interesting offspring. Just had to share. So far there are around five or six. In Red/White and Blue/Black. The markings seem fairly consistent so far. I have seen these from two separate drops so far. I will be isolating and testing the reported theory that the traits will pass down the line. Enjoy!! This hobby never gets boring!! Always a new surprise!! More pics as they mature!!

So I decided the CRS colony needed a new home, so I have reset the tank with new Benibachi soil and have planted it pretty heavy for the TBs. The tank is using an existing canister. So I allowed it to cycle for a few weeks, did a 50% waterchange, then added the TBs. Thankfully all new inhabitants have been doing really well. And first drop of Shrimplets has occurred. I have kept these TB in a single tank, with all colours together. Parents from Bluebolts, Dean's, and a couple of other breeders lines. Am getting a good mixture of shrimplets now, in all colours. I set up a diffuser and connected to CO2 bottle, but I heard of another option that was worth trialling. Sochting have a product called a Carbonator, which acts as a slow release CO2 diffuser. I have set one up today to test out, and will most likely stock these as a product next year, once the results are in.

I finally set my chiller up and decided to use my eheim 2213 on the Resun 650 for my 210 litre tank. This has left my big canister as a stand alone in the tank . The eheim is having no trouble pushing the water through the chiller. I have it set at 22 but it doesn't switch on until the tank reaches 24 - someone mentioned there was a 2 degree swing with the Resun so I was prepared for that. It takes the chiller approximately an hour to bring the water down to 22 and even in the really hot weather we are having here in Adelaide - 38/39 the last few days and over 35 for the last week or so- the chiller only comes on 3-4 times a day. I would be happier if the swing wasn't quite so big but I don't think I can do much about that . I don't know how long it takes the other brands to bring the temp down but 210 litres is a lot of water so I think it's ok.

I don't have a price on them as yet, just testing it out for supplier. Will advise once I know. Dimensions are around 15cm high by 10-11 wide. I am happy to test it out first Ineke. If all goes well, I will let you know!! And yes, the plants have started off well already without CO2, just want to help them along.

looking good Jamie, those plants have already grown well. I will be keeping an eye on the carbonator too as I'm not game to try the Co2 setups.
