So I was sticky beaking in my native tank and spied most if not all my girls are berried , so here's hoping that shortly not only will I have the notopala babies growing up nicely but also a few generations of various native shrimp. Blackmore I think Easy to identify Chameleon Also easy to ID Darwin Rednose and another And this really full girl that is either a DAS or a local creek shrimp that might in all honesty could be anything

I just moved them to a 60litre tank (45x45x35h) drilled for overflow with 250µm screen to keep them in. This is twice the volume of the old tank and I can set them on a continuous rainwater drip. The new tank was already established (biofilm) but I transferred the old sponge filter, the entire volume of water, all the stones, and a few handfuls of gravel so hopefully the transplant wasn't too stressful on the shrimp. I only added a little fresh water (so the tank is just over half full) and I'll let the drip fill it gently over the next week. I'm down to just 12 individuals and one was looking a bit sad-sack (opaque and unhappy). Hoping I can turn them around!

It was 50%, but that comes from a header tank in my aquarium room that is normally almost identical to the tank water. ie rain water at the same temp. I do 30% water changes a couple of times a week so the water in the tank is very close to the same as the water in the heatder tank - In theory I should be able to do 100% water changes without seeing a blip. ...however..... last weekend I swapped over to town water for a day and my header tank may have been 50% town water and 50% rainwater...so this last water change was in fact a greater difference than previous.

Nothing beats interaction with other people who can answer questions In real time. When I first came on here Fishmosy answered a multitude of questions in a very easy to understand way - he never seemed to mind my endless questions . I didn't have the first idea of how to keep shrimp and treated them like I did my fish. All the abreviations were a nightmare and trying to wade my way through the literature was just to hard. 3-4 years ago there was less information available so the SKF members were my lifeline or my shrimps lifeline. Beginners feel silly asking really basic questions but it's the way we learn and our policy here on SKF was always no question is a silly question so new members can ask for help.

Recently went for a 3 day Easter break, and repeated my routine... 1. Cleaning my cannister filters 4-5 days prior to leaving 2. Feeding twice a day 2 days prior to leaving 3. On the day of leaving, dropped in a couple of mulberry leaves, and a food pallet. Returned 3 days later, and all absolutely perfect. Did the same routine when I went away for 6 days, and no issues whatsoever ! Mulberry leaves is the BOMB !
