In my previous job I did the water pump warranties for Australia and I lost count of how many times I copped a belt of electricity when testing the pumps, even though they were plugged in to a dedicated safety switch. The reason it didn't bother your shrimp is because the current was flowing through the water until you reached in and created the earth. It would have run through you and the ladder until it stopped at your shoes then bang. I remember doing this at school as an experiment where you would link hands and the person at the end copped the ZAP. You were lucky because not only do they really hurt but it can put your heart to beat out of rhythm. If it evr happens it is important to get a medical check done.

Hey guys, I'm Chatwin and i am relatively new to this forum! Just wanted to share a few photos of my new tank. I currently own 10 CRS in a 40L tank. My aim is to breed them and hopefully keep up the relatively high grade! I had previously Grade A CRS however the colony died after a year due to poor maintenance. This will not happen again! My current water parameters are: pH(6.8), NH3/NH4(0), NO2(0), NO3(10), PO3(0), i am waiting to buy a KH and GH test. Water top ups are done with tap water dechlorinated with Prime however i bought a RO system yesterday, pondering if i should do all WC's now with RO water... I am feeding them RAC N-1 shrimp food Sorry about the poor quality photos, they were taken on a phone attached to a cheap macro lens

You are spot on Bob they do originate from the white cloud mountains in China and are actually considered to be a tropical fish. They however thrive better in australia's colder climate and are a really good mosquito larvae eating fish, which makes the perfect for water bowls or small ponds.

Thought I would post some pics of the rare ferns and native moss. I have put it into my rifle tank and it is currently only getting sunlight through the window and about two hours a night of artificial light. It is growing really well and has new fronds growing. It reminds me of a miniature version of a tree fern. I have tied one section of the fern to each end some driftwood and the native moss is in the middle of the two ferns. The shrimp seem to love munching on the dead fronds.
