Nevermind, Found what I needed exactly from ... get this ... IKEA, of all places. They have glass shelves 58cm x 18cm for $5. I might need to trim that 18cm a bit to fit, but nothing a $5 glass cutter can't do. I'm close to an IKEA so it works out well.

Don't know about Prodibio. Though, I have a buddy who used Bio Nitrivec from SERA to setup a tank. He put 10 Blue Pearls I gave him in this tank a week after, and all survived. NO2 and NO3 were very low, in a good range

I've been using pure rainwater at ~ 30-40 µS. About 1 in 4-5 water changes I put a very small amount (couple of rice grains only) of DIY GH booster just to add some Ca/Mg. This might be a total waste of time, but my logic is the rainwater is coming off a colourbond roof into stainless steel tanks so the residual conductivity is likely to be of organic origin rather than mineral (100% assumption)... Ca is often implicated as important for moulting.. so I'm just making sure there is a whiff of it in the water without actually measuring it (not very scientific). With the recent influx of fresh rainwater in Melbourne the EC in the tanks is dropping further.

Which Salty shrimp product you get depends on what shrimp you will be keeping. GH+ for CRS, CBS, Taiwan Bees (ie. Caridina). This product will only raise and keep GH at a certain level. GH/KH+ for Cherries, Rilli (ie Neocaridina). This product will raise and keep both GH & KH at a certain level. Mineral powder and Enlive are used in a new tank. Sprinkle these on the bottom of the tank before adding substrate. They are also products that are meant to be used regularly. A little at water change times is a good regime to follow. The amount to use should be on the bottle/packaging. I usually use a little less than the recommended amount. However, this is where your test kits come in handy. For example, if your TDS reading is 300, you don't want to keep adding the usual amount of Salty Shrimp, instead you should not add any at water change to try to reduce TDS. Similarly, if your GH reading is too high, reduce it with pure water change without adding GH+ additives. Enlive is a bacterial additive, that does not change water parameters. So you can safely add this regularly to maintain a healthy tank. Mineral powder replaces lost minerals, so again, this can be used regularly.

You can keep Darwin Algae Shrimp (DAS) with Cherries. It's not a problem. DAS are bigger than cherries, but they don't necessarily outcompete each other for food, as long as you provide enough. Unfortunately, if you are looking for easy to breed natives, DAS is not one of them. It's very difficult breeding DAS. The newly hatched shrimplets, need a brackish (salt water) phase to survive. Chameleon shrimp would be a better choice for natives. They are just as nice to look at.
