So after 18mths & a number of different graphic designers, I have finally got the cherry shrimp family tree ready for peer review. I know there is a few additions to be added, like blue gene orange rili & green orange rili, any other suggestions will be gladly added.

Angels are way too aggressive for shrimp. I use this analogy with fish & shrimp all the time - ever see a lion swallow a warthog whole? No, they take small bites out of it. Same with fish and shrimps. The fish will hunt, harass and take bites out of the shrimp. Shrimp legs & antenna, are particularly vulnerable. I've seen cardinal tetras do that to CRS. The shrimp is then disabled and they close in for the kill like little piranhas.

If I were you, I'd just use that tank water, and remineralise with Salty Shrimp GH+ bought from one of the forum sponsors. Forget tap water. Tapwater mixed with tank/rain water will raise the GH, but it is made up of stuff you don't want in the aquarium.

Or you could ask me ... Remember our Asta groupbuy from Kensfish.com? Kordon 9 x 16 Breather Bags (Qty 25) is USD $16.95 and an extra USD$4.45 shipping. (Qty 50) is USD $31.95 and an extra USD$4.45 shipping. (Qty 100) is USD $59.95 and an extra USD$4.45 shipping. <- $0.60/bag !!! (Note: shipping is the same for up to 100 bags) I haven't placed the order for the asta yet, still waiting on a couple of people So if you want it, let me know. You have my payment details. Just pick a quantity above, and convert to AUD using 0.7778. eg QTY 25 - $16.95+4.45 = USD$21.40 / 0.7778 = AUD$27.50. <edit3> - you might need to add $10 for local Oz shipping to the above. Get the 100. Someone else on SKF will need some. <edit> - other sizes available too. check it out here. http://www.kensfish.com/cgi-kensfish/sb/productsearch.cgi?storeid=*14884f2aaab140560cc4d786 <edit2> - if you were to buy it separately, instead of with the asta groupbuy, you'd pay USD$45.75 in shipping alone. You'd be saving $41 in shipping.

A different post just got me thinking about this again. It's been nearly 3 months since this thread started, but I'm yet to hear anyone move from using the name Caridina cantonensis - a different animal. Whenever a species description leads to a new name it takes time for that name to gain popular acceptance, but it's important that we start trying to get the new names in our heads, and ultimately to start using them. Are those of you out there in shrimp world trying now to think of your bee shrimp as C. logemanni, and your tigers as C. mariae? I may not always be succeeding yet, but I'm certainly trying (so I've been told).

That is what they call chimera. Generally it renders them sterile though :(
