This time I would like to show you something about the second abdomen or "breastplate" or "Tigerschaufel". This is a really awesome phenomenon that you only find on high quality PRL. To be honest, I don't have them myself. So I asked Mario Portera (Calls his shrimp JustBee, I got my shrimp from him) from Germany if I can show his pictures of some stunning pieces he have. So far I know, you can only see this on female shrimp. When the shape is round and big and fully covered it has a great effect on the appearance of the shrimp. I believe a lot of the shrimp have the shape, but because they are not fully colored, it looks like it's small. Examples: If you can read German, you can check this analysis from Lisa Klotz: http://www.crustahunter.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/FBA-Lisa-Klotz-Tigerschaufel.pdf or you can just look at the pictures ;). And don't forget to check out Mario's website for more awesome shrimp: http://akaebinosato.de/gallery/ I'm not sure what to discuss next time. Most parts are covered so far. If you have a suggestion, please let me know.

Once again had to tell someone they have been ripped off.Had a fellow hobbiest around today to trade a few tigerbee for a blonde tiger girl only to have to tell him that his blonde tigers he has bought are in fact tigerbee not tigers. He felt horrible as he didn't want to wast my time.Explained to him that its better to know and to stay and look around.sent him on his way with a few more tigerbee to add to his tank.At least now he will know the difference next time he goes to buy.And as for the breeder that supplied them they have lost a good customer as he turns up on time with the right money and a polite attitude.

This could be your problem. KH and GH is high. Try reducing it with just RO water, not mixed with tap water.

Yes, that's a signature of good breed. Usually those with the "breast-plate" are close to competition grade. ;) If you ever see it in person, the body shape is like a butterfly with folded wing.

+1 for being a positive influence on the hobby. You did remind him about joining SKF, right? Maybe for next time he could get a second opinion from us.

Just don't forget to turn the heat back down after the tank is fully cycled. 73-75degF (23-24degC) will be good for most shrimps.

Moss will be okay with that temp. The BT9 packaging will have written instructions.

I don't see her any longer, but I can see a clean moult laying down the substrat. And I also see my male running all around the tank seeking. So, I bet that soon I will have another berried female
