Awesome news that things are on track Jen!!! That's a lot of berried mummas in there!! Good luck! It's a great feeling when it starts to take off.

I'll cross my fingers it happens for you Disciple. Miss 4 & I are pretty stoked to see a few of the shrimplets grow into our first juvies. Now we're hanging out for the next milestone, seeing if one of them will be our first berried CRS that we've watched since she was a berry lol

I've only tried one brand - Natures Goodness Pollen granules. That one bottle has lasted me close to two years now. No special preparation needed. If you get the bee pollen in granules form, you just drop some in straight into the tank.
  4. Ronskitz
Sorry to hijack lol jayc do you recomend any brand in particular? How do you prepare the pollen? Cheers

Thanks to my 5 month old son for getting me up early enough to win another comp. Thanks everybody :-)

Good stuff. I hope to turn the corner so to speak and follow in your foot steps and start building up my colony instead of just keeping it alive.

Having seen recently the numerous different names given for the same type of shrimp and confusion regarding 'pure' lines I like the fact that we have certain standards here at SKF and I would hate to see people advertising incorrectly here. At least if it is members only listing our moderators will have some control over what is offered for sale. A complete turn around from what I said at the beginning of this thread.

Fantastic news, great to hear you are finally having some success, well done!

Congrats mate all over it like a rash lol

I had trouble with 12 as well Ineke, but eventually found it here:- http://shrimpkeepersforum.com/forum/index.php/page/articles.html/_/shrimp-id/native-shrimp/shieldtadpole-shrimp-r26#commentsStart Congrats Aquathumb!! :-) Thanks NoGi. I was feeling a little greedy thinking I may have won another comp, but searching for them gave me something else to do while I was outside having a coffee and making sure Miss 4 & our nutbag dog didn't get into too much mischief together. Lol

Not just AU, it is not easy to find outside Japan too. LOL!!! Most of the shops or the sellers bought them and refuse to sell. Even if they are willing to sell, they only bring it in for their "special guest". Pretty annoying in some way too. ShrimpFan bought some JRB and JBB just few days back in Japan. Maybe he will share his photo here. I don't mind him hijacking my thread.

I've also noticed this among my PRL. I've been a huge PRL fan for so long now and on many occasions when opportunity arise and funds are plentiful, I would find myself picking up a couple of PRL to add to my collection. A few things I've noticed with the PRL as of late.. 1. My first generation of PRL (the oldest purchased PRL) demonstrated the BEST colors. Coincidentally, the typically Tiger Tooth or Saber Tooth (as Shrimpy Daddy has put it) has always ranked highest in terms of coloration when compared to the SSS Grades (speaking matter of factly in terms of the "OLD" grading systems based on patterns ranging from C - SSS Mosura). 2. As the PRL crazed continue to grow and become more widely available (speaking in terms of availability in NA as we are usually 2-3 years behind on all shrimping related trends) the once signature Tiger Tooth/Saber Tooth patterns have given way to the more SSS grades (almost all white with only the red heads) patterns. I found that amongst these contains the most unstable and "ugly" colors. It's at these grades that I begin to see the "yellow" and "pinkish-red" colors. Conclusion: I do believe that the best "PRL" ranging in the lower pattern grades S-SS (No-Entry - Tiger's Tooth/Saber Tooth patterns). I feel like the way most breeders of these high grades PRL are doing somesort of genetic mixing (what mixing and combination, I do not know) but it has brought forth a lot of genetic instability tainting in the once good PRL name. As such, I don't even bother with the fancy (and often heavily marketed and advertised) SSS Grade PRL with the red head and complete white bodies and white legs. I found that 90% of the time they look grade in pictures but are lacklustre in person. I just want to add that the JRB and JBB (Japanese Black Bees or should it be Japanese Black Line?) all arrived safely and is currently undergoing the acclimating process. I'll be able to add them to my tanks in a few hours. And yes, the "PRL" I purchased from HK a year ago are terrible (similar to the SSS PRL I bought from a local importer a few months ago) and have been kept separated inside their own breeder box. I found the pinkish - yellow color really ugly and so I've made little effort to continue working on them. Id like to add some iPhone pictures of the JRB I hand selected while in Japan. Also, while I was in Japan I noticed that of the 4 top tier JRB tanks (prices ranging from ¥30000-50000) 3 of said tanks consisted of all Red Legged JRB with patterns ranging from Hino No-Entry - Tiger's Tooth/Saber Tooth. Examples: Winners I hand picked: Disclaimer: I know these pictures can look subjective as it's not a macro photography and iphone photos don't say much, but I do plan on getting a few pictures of these guys with my X-T1 + Macro lens when they acclimate and color up.

Hello, to make it a little clearer. The beeshrimp has not been scientifically described and thus got the temporary name Caridina cf. cantonensis, which means "looks like a cantonensis, but it is not." After several years of microscopic and genetic studies Werner Klotz and Thomas von Rintelen have their scientific work now completed and given to the beeshrimp its own name. The new name is "Caridina logemanni", in reference to two German brothers with the last name Logemann, who are very active in the German shrimp Scene. In addition Werner Klotz and Thomas von Rintelen have also described the tiger shrimp, which now has the name "Caridina mariae". Greetings from Germany Lars
