So I watch this video & thought I'd give it a go to see how easy it is, gotta say I was quite surprised to be able to make a three tier rack for under $50 in less than 2hrs. http://youtu.be/3ffely-t4iw First I got the timber & screws & cut everything to length with the drop saw. Then with the circular saw I cut out the channels as in the video. Then I laid it all out & glued & screwed the front & back frames. Then I glued & screwed the side braces in place. & vwalah!! 2hrs later I have a three tier stand that can hold six 600w x 400h x 600d tanks. Now none of you guys have any excuses to not build a rack of your own of any size & shape, so get out there & setup MORE TANKS!!! lol

Well let me share that creating Ikebana is great in concept but difficult to achieve. Going to can that idea and try a more traditional nature scape , just got a great centrepiece plant for my freshwater tank , let's see if I can pull this scape off without too much brain damage. :)

Its always good news when things settle down. As they said its always good to have the test kits incase something goes wrong. I got 50% off from one of my old LFS when i lived in sydney after a bunch of fish i brought from there wiped out my whole community tank with disease. Took advantage of it and brought a albino short fin bristle nose and bred them with a female lol

I'll start off with a small simple "How to" How to - Turn a cheap net into one that functions like an expensive net. What makes a good shrimp net? It can be materials, price, function, does it catch shrimp successfully? I've used had many shrimp nets, and the best ones, that actually catch shrimp easily, are the ones whose net stays open and forms a little cup that does not scare the shrimp into swimming the other way when you try to catch them. Because it is not obstructed and looks like an escape route, the shrimp just seem to swim right in. Unlike soft, floppy nets, that look like a barrier. These nets don't have enough stiffness to keep the net open. The solution? A cable tie cut into the appropriate length to keep the net open. Carefully place it into the net like so ... There you have it. A $2 net that will now catch shrimp like the $30 one I have. Jayc. This post has been promoted to an article
