Shrimp ID - Cherry vs Crystal

Found 2 of these shrimps (light choc) in my tank of mischling...my head is saying they're somehow gotten into this tank via net transfer/moss relocation (from another tank), and my heart saying it's a mutation ?

Is there a particular way to 100% ID them ?

Thanks

Whatever it is, it's very nice! :D

You could always put one in a tank with a normal Cherry of the opposite sex and see if they breed? Then you'll know if it's a Cherry or not :) That's probably not the quickest or most foolproof way to tell what they are, but it's all I can think of xD

it is a cherry in my eyes :) Jess you are on the money :applause: the shrimp in the pic looks like a choc cherry and the best way would be to try breeding it with another...

there are some charts i have somewhere that show the differences, now to try and find them......

From memory, Neocaridina have a longer carapace, the caridina carapace should be as long as it is tall.

Don't Crystals have short stubby rostrums where as cherries have longer narrower rostrums? That's how I tell em apart, at least in the adults.

I could be wrong though.
