Hi guys just curious if my ph is to low at ph 5, im using ada africana in 2 tanks and both are at ph 5... only using 3 cm of soil in each tank! Even after doing a change with tap water ph 7 it quickly goes back down... Curious if any body else keeps TB successfully at such a low ph?

My tap water is pretty good, ph 7, gh 4, kh 1, 70 ppm tds

Cheers

I have read that TB's can go down as low as 5.2, so I think that 5 is too low. But, in saying that, I think Dean did an experiment where he had them down in the 4's, but with the PH so low, the beneficial bacteria would grow so slow that WP's would be very very important. See if you can find his thread about his experiment & the process he had to use for this to work.

Just remove a bit of the substrate bit daily until the desired ph is met, i guess main question is how are the shrimp fairing, are they healthy n active?

Thank you guys, the shrimp are active, eating and molting So all good, but I just read so much about the beneficial bacteria online that I was curious to see how everybody else has faired.... On another note, who is breeding tb at or above a ph of 7?
